The Role:
The Senior Sales Engineer (SE) will collaborate closely with Regional Sales Managers as part of the Global Sales Team, focusing on the sales support of Imperva's Web Application and Database Security/Compliance products. This role is pivotal within the sales organization, providing essential pre-sales technical expertise and presentations. The SE will engage with sales managers, prospects, and partners, serving as a subject-matter expert to illustrate how our solutions can meet and exceed customer expectations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Engage in sales conference calls and prospect visits, delivering product demonstrations both in-person and via virtual platforms, while addressing technical and business inquiries from prospects.
  • Exhibit strong customer-centric selling skills with a proven track record of driving revenue growth.
  • Act as a technical resource at industry trade shows and conferences as required.
  • Work autonomously while being an integral member of the sales team.
  • Collaborate with the sales team to devise strategic approaches for business development.
  • Ensure successful on-site product evaluations and assist with post-sale installations when necessary.
  • Manage the technical needs of the Regional Strategic Account customer base.
  • Plan, oversee, and execute customer product pilots.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field – REQUIRED.
  • 5+ years of experience in network security, development, and pre-sales engineering, with at least 3 years in a sales engineering role, preferably in a startup or vendor environment.
  • Solid understanding of web applications, databases, security, and auditing environments.
  • Experience with Linux systems.
  • Strong knowledge of TCP/IP, HTTP, load balancers, proxies, and firewalls.
  • Familiarity with database technologies such as Oracle, MS SQL, Sybase, and DB2 is preferred.
  • Knowledge of application development languages (ASP, .NET, PHP, JSP).
  • Understanding of compliance standards (PCI, SOX, HIPAA) is advantageous.
  • Ability to effectively present technical information to both small and large audiences.
  • Experience with Network or Application Firewalls and/or IDS/IPS is a plus.
  • Familiarity with scripting and/or using RegEx is beneficial.
  • Knowledge of advanced internet routing protocols is an advantage.
  • Demonstrated self-management, multitasking, and prioritization skills, with a drive for personal success.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, along with strong interpersonal and organizational abilities.
  • Willingness to travel domestically and internationally, with a requirement for 50% travel availability.
