Job Summary

The Financial Controller plays a pivotal role in the hotel's financial management, reporting directly to the Corporate Finance Department while also being an integral part of the hotel's Executive Committee and management team. This dual role requires the Financial Controller to balance commercial and financial management support, recognizing dynamic business priorities and opportunities while maintaining prudent control functions.

Key Responsibilities
  • Compliance
    • Ensure adherence to all contracts and legal agreements, including management agreements, and safeguard all legal documents and original contracts.
    • Review and approve contracts and legal agreements in conjunction with the General Manager.
  • Reporting and Budgeting
    • Provide accurate, independent, and informative accounting/financial reporting for both Corporate Office and hotel management.
    • Investigate business trends and deviations to budget and last year, and provide recommendations for rectifications and/or improvement to hotel management.
  • Control and Audit
    • Develop, implement, and maintain sound internal control systems to protect the hotel's interests.
    • Ensure strict adherence to all contracts and legal agreements, including management agreements.
  • Capital Projects
    • Ensure all capital expenditure is in line with established spending guidelines and approved budgets.
    • Prepare financial projections, justifications, and other documents for assessment by Corporate Office and owner.
  • Staffing
    • Recruit, terminate, and manage employment status for staff within the Finance Department.
    • Develop and maintain accurate job descriptions for staff within the Finance Department.
  • Meetings
    • Participate in hotel operational meetings, including daily morning briefings, Executive Committee/Department Head meetings, credit meetings, sales & marketing/yield meetings, and budget meetings.
    • Be one of the authorized signatories for bank accounts opened under the hotel.
Requirements
  • Education
    • College degree (University graduate) with a major in Finance.
  • Experience
    • At least 5 years of working experience as Assistant Financial Controller or higher in the hospitality industry.
  • Job Skills/Knowledge
    • Accounting qualification.
    • Computer knowledge, including MS Office software.
    • Good command of communication in English.
