Travel + Leisure Co. is seeking a highly skilled Senior Legal Counsel to join our team in Shanghai. As a key member of our Legal & Compliance team, you will play a critical role in providing expert legal advice and services to support the company's vision of putting the world on vacation.
Key Responsibilities:
- Advise and assist in the negotiation of commercial contracts, including property acquisition agreements, licenses, and hotel and resort management contracts.
- Review and draft disclosure documents and consumer contracts in English and Mandarin.
- Assist in the review and drafting of sales and marketing collaterals to ensure compliance with applicable laws and company policies.
- Provide support to the legal team for acquisitions, property, and large commercial agreements, including due diligence processes.
- Coordinate Corporate Secretarial functions for the Asia company portfolio, including drafting, reviewing, and lodging relevant Director's resolutions and annual reports.
- Prepare and manage template documents, including contract databases and reporting.
- Conduct legal research and provide expert advice on relevant laws and regulations.
Requirements:
- Admitted to practice as a lawyer in the Peoples Republic of China.
- University legal qualification gained in the Peoples Republic of China or another major Asia Pacific jurisdiction.
- Fluent in reading, writing, drafting documents, and speaking Mandarin and English, with fluency in other Asian languages an advantage.
- Minimum of 7 years post-graduate legal experience in a major law firm in the PRC and/or commercial environment.
- Ability to exercise and express sound legal judgment in a commercial environment.
- Ability to live and work in Shanghai.
- Experience in drafting, negotiating, and finalizing a broad range of commercial and property contracts in English and Mandarin, with prior experience in hospitality, tourism, and vacation ownership industries an advantage.
- High-level oral and written communication skills.
- Ability to take responsibility for and ownership of your work.
- Ability to identify and address legal issues, ensuring the company's interests are protected.
- Confidence and ability to communicate and advise all levels of the business on relevant legal matters.
- Excellent knowledge of relevant law, regulations, and policies.
- High-level computer skills, particularly expertise with Microsoft Office programs.
- Flexible team player with strong organizational skills, tenacity, initiative, and decision-making abilities.
- Ability to effectively prioritize a diverse and constant workflow and satisfy internal client needs.
