Senior Audio Design Engineer

HARMAN International is looking for a talented Sr. Audio Design Engineer to join our team. As a key member of our engineering team, you will be responsible for designing and developing cutting-edge audio products that exceed our customers' expectations.

About the Role:

  • Lead the microphone voice system engineering design of all HARMAN Lifestyle division products, conference speakers, headphones, and smart speakers.
  • Develop microphone voice system technology, product prototypes, and manufacturing processes based on HARMAN internal or 3rd-party solutions and technologies.
  • Monitor and evaluate new mic system technologies for voice communication, voice recognition, and high-quality standalone mic products.
  • Analyze HARMAN internal projects and customer requirements to propose suitable solutions and execute engineering functions throughout the program cycle.
  • Work with project leaders and PMs to solve microphone engineering issues.
  • Communicate with peers inside the HARMAN Consumer Audio Product group for product development, including occasional travel for training or coordination with other groups and suppliers.
  • Participate in internal and co-development design reviews throughout product development life cycles.

Requirements:

  • Good hearing and ability to accurately evaluate sound quality of audio products.
  • Bachelor's degree in electrical, mechanical, or acoustical engineering.
  • At least 10 years of experience as an engineer in new product development.
  • Experience in audio product testing using proper equipment.
  • Excellent communication and spoken English language skills.
  • Experienced with computers, Microsoft Windows, and Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Driver component background.
  • Algorithm background in headphone-related technologies.
  • Working knowledge of VOIP, Skype, and similar telecommunications technologies.
  • Working knowledge of handsets and headsets used for telecommunications.
  • Good temperament and ability to work with suppliers and customers from different cultures.
  • Verbal and written communication skills in English.
  • Creative problem-solving skills.
  • Familiarity with manufacturing processes commonly used in acoustics and electronics assemblies.
  • Ability to build a high-performing team and environment.
