Job Summary

Cummins Inc. is seeking an Electronics Engineering Technician to join our team. As an Electronics Engineering Technician, you will be responsible for utilizing advanced skills and knowledge to perform analyses using Electronic Engineering tools and standard instruments and test equipment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Apply advanced skills and experiences while operating analytical instruments and equipment, performing physical analyses, acquiring and interpreting data, and documenting technical results in support of production and non-production engineering, quality, and manufacturing groups.
  • Effectively utilize advanced skills and experiences to solve complex problems; compile, analyze, and report performance or progress information to management.
  • Develop and document laboratory methods.
  • Perform routine and complex maintenance, troubleshooting, and minor repair of instruments and equipment.
  • Understand and apply appropriate company and department rules and guidelines to work.
  • Actively mentor and train apprentices, trainees, and technicians; address training needs within the laboratory.
  • Interface with customers, suppliers, engineers, and other functions.
  • Coordinate programs including planning, scheduling, ordering, and tracking; handle projects that require significant decisions to be made to work flow and priorities; provide effective technical and project leadership.
  • Participate in the maintenance of quality procedures and work instructions.
  • Participate in improvement projects; demonstrate adaptability and responsiveness to changing work needs and willingness to undertake new tasks.
  • Develop and give technical presentations to engineers, customers, and suppliers.
  • Participate in self- and team-audits and associated corrective actions.

Requirements:

  • High school diploma, certificate of completion of secondary education, or equivalent experience in an appropriate STEM field is required.
  • Regionally applicable certification or two-year Associates Degree from an accredited college or university in a relevant field of study may be required.
  • This position may require licensing for compliance with export controls or sanctions regulations.
  • Requires significant relevant work experience or specialized skills obtained through education, training, or on-the-job experience.

Competencies:

  • Data Acquisition - Prepare samples, verify equipment calibration, and perform tests according to an approved standard procedure or work instruction in a manner that ensures and results in data that can be trusted and delivered to the engineer or customer.
  • Data Reporting - Prepare documentation in a manner that clearly organizes and presents testing methods, instrument settings, the data, and analysis to allow the engineer and customer to understand the results and form accurate conclusions and recommendations.
  • Product Problem Solving - Solve product problems using a process that protects the customer; determine the assignable cause; implement robust, data-based solutions; and identify the systemic root causes and recommended actions to prevent problem reoccurrence.
  • Product Software Design and Construction - Construct product software using industry best practices and robust software engineering principles; verify software updates to ensure quality products.
  • Collaborates - Building partnerships and working collaboratively with others to meet shared objectives.
  • Communicates effectively - Developing and delivering multi-mode communications that convey a clear understanding of the unique needs of different audiences.
