Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Assistant Contract Manager to join our team. The successful candidate will assist the Commission Manager on a range of tasks, including conducting background research, data collection, and benchmarking, as well as conducting feasibility studies and writing procurement reports.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist the Commission Manager on a range of tasks, including conducting background research, data collection, and benchmarking.
  • Conduct feasibility studies and write procurement reports.
  • Estimate and cost plan, including producing and presenting the final cost plan.
  • Tender and procure, including managing the pre-qualification stage, producing the tender list, and compiling the contractual documents.
  • Deal with post-contract cost variances and change control processes, referring major changes to the line manager.
  • Responsible for making cost checks and carrying out valuations on larger projects, ensuring timely and accurate cost checking and valuation.
  • Produce monthly post-contract cost reports and present them to the client.
  • Input into value engineering, negotiating and agreeing final accounts.
  • Interface with the client and other consultants at all project stages.
  • Assist in the production of bid documentation.
  • Identify ways to improve cost management procedures, templates, and products, referring ideas to the appropriate line manager.
  • Knowledge management - ensure key information and learning generated from each commission is input into the internal database.
  • Financial management - keep track of ongoing margin levels.
  • Process improvement - identify ways to improve internal systems and processes, referring ideas to the appropriate line manager.

Requirements

  • Degree in Quantity Surveying, Cost/Contract Management/Engineering or equivalent.
  • Minimum 3-5 years' experience in related fields.
  • Candidates with experience in commercial fit-out, industrial, mixed development, healthcare, hospitality & leisure, data centres, or semi-conductor projects as a cost consultant are preferred.
  • Excellent technical knowledge and experience across the full range of Cost Management duties, including Cost Estimates, Bills of Quantities, Value Engineering, Tendering and Evaluation, Contract Knowledge, Change Orders, and Final Account close-out.
  • Team player with excellent leadership and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to negotiate, influence, and persuade others.
