Senior Research and Development Engineer

About the Role:

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Research and Development Engineer to join our team at Carrier. As a key member of our engineering team, you will be responsible for developing and deploying state-of-the-art modeling tools and model-based development workflows for our air-conditioning and refrigeration component and system design.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and execute detailed project plans to drive innovation and efficiency in our HVAC/R systems.
  • Provide heat transfer and thermodynamics expertise to support the development of next-generation high-efficiency and environmentally friendly HVAC/R systems.
  • Design and conduct equipment qualification testing in our labs to ensure the highest quality standards.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including Marketing, Product Engineering, and global teams, to understand customer needs and develop solutions.
  • Develop and maintain complex models of thermal fluid systems using programming languages such as Python, C++, C#, Java, Visual Basic, Fortran, or similar languages.
  • Communicate technical information effectively to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Requirements:

  • BS degree in thermal, refrigeration and air-conditioning, power engineering, fluid machinery, or engineering mechanics with 3+ years of experience.
  • MS degree in thermal, refrigeration and air-conditioning, power engineering, fluid machinery, or engineering mechanics with 2+ years of experience.
  • PhD degree in thermal, refrigeration and air-conditioning, power engineering, fluid machinery, or engineering mechanics.
  • Strong background in heat transfer, thermodynamics, calculus, and numerical analysis.
  • Experience with modeling and simulation of thermal fluid systems.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively in a global team.
