Job Summary

Caterpillar is seeking an Inventory Coordinator to join our team. As an Inventory Coordinator, you will be responsible for maintaining and improving computerized inventory records and reporting on inventory levels and activity.

Key Responsibilities
  • Maintain and improve computerized inventory records
  • Report on inventory levels and activity
  • Coordinate and report expedited orders
  • Coordinate returns and exchanges of inventory items
  • Verify order completeness and inspect for damage
  • Ensure compliance with established internal control procedures
Requirements
  • Degree or equivalent experience desired
  • Knowledge of major production application systems
  • Ability to leverage major production application systems in diverse situations
Working Knowledge
  • Helps create contingency plans to mitigate impact of disruption on core applications
  • Identifies key players, criticalities, roles, and responsibilities
  • Investigates application-related issues with both business and IT professionals
  • Recommends enhancements for a major application system or related subsystems
Information Capture
  • Follows defined procedures to document all routine information
  • Identifies relevant established standards, policies, and practices
  • Fulfills routine information capture needs in own area
  • Uses automated tools to capture, organize, and archive relevant information
Office Support Tools
  • Describes the benefits and relative strengths of tools for a specific application
  • Demonstrates some advanced functions of at least one product
  • Performs first-level problem resolution before seeking help elsewhere
  • Helps colleagues with desktop tools where necessary
Accuracy and Attention to Detail
  • Accurately gauges the impact and cost of errors, omissions, and oversights
  • Utilizes specific approaches and tools for checking and cross-checking outputs
  • Processes limited amounts of detailed information with good accuracy
  • Learns from mistakes and applies lessons learned
Data Gathering and Reporting
  • Detects and summarizes patterns in data and findings by producing simple reports
  • Assesses common problems and obstacles surrounding data-gathering
  • Customizes data fields to meet clients' needs
  • Interprets and explains results of a data-gathering initiative
Inventory Management - MFG
  • Follows processes to take stock, release inventory, or return into processing; resolves discrepancies
  • Tracks inventory information for a specific product group or location
  • Works with basic tasks of inventory management for a specific location
  • Produces basic inventory management reports for senior staff to reconcile the inventory balances
Materials Handling and Management
  • Assists in the responding of and dealing with emergency issues related in materials handling
  • Works with the packaging and storage of inbound or outbound materials
  • Performs the packing, shipping, identifying, and transporting of materials
  • Explains key environmental issues for handling hazardous goods
Supply Chain Management - MFG
  • Discusses considerations for integrating partner and supplier transactions
  • Recognizes software systems or components used to manage supply chain
  • Summarizes supply chain considerations for different types of products or components
  • Participates in supply chain analysis and uses it to spot trends and improvement opportunities
