R&D Category Associate Director VMS

Your Key Responsibilities

  • Contribute to the development of the innovation strategy, working closely with the global technical community, external partners, local commercial team, and matrixed functions to support VMS category growth.
  • Collaborate closely with the commercial team in China to serve the needs of the market for the VMS category.
  • Manage the project pipeline to deliver meaningful consumer health benefits and grounded in science and medical unmet needs.
  • Develop scientific insight and initiate new innovation projects together with commercial counterparts, seeking opportunities for scale across the globe.
  • Define the best technical path/strategy for NPD and drive the development of Target Project Profile.
  • Lead the initiation of projects to build a best-in-class pipeline, driving execution of approved projects.
  • Provide leadership and technical expertise to the initiation, scoping, and feasibility development of new products.
  • Provide leadership and technical support to the Technical Project Leaders for pipeline execution.
  • Utilize the global R&D network and development centers to obtain advice, information, and/or technical support.
  • Effectively leverage CMOs and expert networks for external development.
  • Ensure a strong connection with suppliers and universities to identify new technologies aligned with business needs.
  • Liaise with External Innovation and Partnerships to understand potential for external innovation and development.
  • Lead technical due diligence for in-licensing options.
  • Provide technical and personal development leadership through training, mentoring, coaching, and performance management of the team.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree with 12+ years (or Master's degree with 10+ years, or PhD with 6+ years) of significant experience in FMCG/Consumer Health.
  • A proven track-record of delivering consumer-inspired, science-based, and new-to-category innovation in the Consumer Health or Consumer Goods Industry from ideation to launch.
  • Passion for consumer-inspired innovation.
  • Strong scientific and business acumen.
  • VMS Category experience not necessary, but a strong plus.
  • Strong leadership and interpersonal skills, particularly in cross-functional teams.
  • Ability to work with and influence all levels in the organization.
  • Outstanding project management and creative problem-solving skills.
