Job Title: Scientist, AI Researcher

We are seeking a talented artificial intelligent (AI) researcher to join the AI, Data and Digital (AIDD) team at China Innovation Center of Roche (CICoR). In this role, you will collaborate with computational biologists and chemists, as well as informatics and digital experts to develop AI algorithms, build fit-for-purpose models and implement solutions for drug research and development (R&D).

Key Responsibilities:
  • Contribute to our AI strategy and the AI pillar of the AIDD team to increase the success rate of drug portfolio projects and the productivity of R&D.
  • Identify, develop, and implement appropriate AI solutions to generate scientific insights, automate processes, and complement traditional computational approaches.
  • Explore and apply generative AI approaches, including large language models, to aid drug R&D.
  • Communicate with data scientists, AI researchers, and informatics experts across Roche organization to exchange learnings and collaborate on projects.
  • Lead AI-related projects and have opportunities to work with cross-functional teams.
Requirements:
  • Master's or Ph.D. degree in machine learning, computer science, mathematics, physics, biology, chemistry, or a relevant discipline.
  • 3+ years of industry experience, preferably in pharmaceutical, internet, or AI startup companies.
  • Passion for applying AI in different fields of drug R&D, including cheminformatics, bioinformatics, biomedical, lab automation, and learning relevant scientific domain knowledge.
  • Proven track record of successfully developing ML/DL models to solve scientific problems and leading projects to implement impactful AI solutions.
  • Strong expertise in applying state-of-the-art deep learning model development, including graph neural networks, transformers, generative networks, and convolutional neural networks.
  • Excellent analytical and mathematical capabilities, with the ability to identify key questions and come up with innovative AI solutions.
  • Excellent programming skills in Python, as well as other commonly used machine learning and deep learning frameworks.
  • Experience in training and optimizing ML/DL models, including hyper-parameter tuning, regularization techniques, and model evaluation methods.
  • Experience in multi-modal deep learning frameworks and solutions is a plus.
  • Good communication skills in both English and Mandarin.
