Electrical Powertrain Expert for Electric Mobility

As a major player in the Chinese market, Mercedes-Benz is accelerating its transition to electric mobility. The rapidly changing landscape of New Energy Vehicle regulations demands continuous innovation from our powertrain department.

In this fast-paced environment, we are seeking an Electrical Powertrain Expert to join our BMS OBD team. Your expertise will be crucial in developing and calibrating diagnostic systems, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards and internal MB guidelines.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Familiarizing yourself with the BECM system and diagnostics
  • Taking ownership of calibration work for diagnosis systems and PRP monitoring of BMS
  • Maintaining fault memory according to regulations and MB internal standards
  • Monitoring battery SOH and accuracy validation
  • Preparing OBD documentation and BECM pre-PVE

Key qualifications include:

  • University degree in electrical, mechanical, or automotive engineering
  • BMS functions, HV safety BAM experience
  • Battery system control strategy, capacity calculation, and diagnose calibration knowledge
  • BECM system development and validation experience preferred
  • OBD certification documentation worldwide experience
  • OBD generic scan tool and communication skills

Skillset requirements also include:

  • Fluent written/spoken English, fluent written/spoken Chinese, and helpful German language proficiency
  • BMS SW development experience (e.g., Vector Autosar BSW)
  • Knowledge in BMS functions (e.g., HV-safety, algorithm, function safety)
  • Software skills in Vector CANape/CANoe), INCA, and DTS Monaco
  • Solid understanding of worldwide OBD- and High Voltage Battery regulation (GB .6; CCR T.2; CCR T 2.5. EU BVO, Upcoming CN7...)
  • Knowledge in SAE J9; SAE J9-2/-3, SAE 2DA
  • Experiences in OBD certification documentation worldwide
  • Mercedes Benz EE and powertrain architecture beneficial
  • Effective communication and cultural adaptability skills
  • Project management skills for cross-functional teams
  • Inter-cultural experience
  • Valid driver's license

A competitive salary range for this position is approximately $120,000-$150,000 per year, depending on experience, taking into account the location in China and the specific requirements of the role.
