Job Summary

As a recognized technical resource in System Safety within the Functional Safety Competence Center, you work with internal development teams, customers and external design partners on system safety solutions for industrial applications (IEC You are involved in supporting customers in preparing for certification of their products against IEC61508. In addition, you work with 3rd party partners to perform some or all of the safety certification preparation work, coordinating activities across the teams and assisting with communication when not all parties speak Chinese.

Responsibilities

  • Understand NXP's product safety concepts and customers' system safety concepts on industrial projects, primarily factory automation
  • Understand and provide support to customers on System and Hardware safety concepts including requirements, architecture and Safety analysis (FTA, FMEA, DFA, CCFA, FMEDA, Data flow analysis)
  • Contribute to certification preparation of customer's products against IEC61508 and possibly other relevant industrial safety standards
  • Use your Chinese and English language skills to provide clear communication among NXP team members, customers, and external 3rd party partners
  • Maintain / Enhance the Safety Culture within the company - Evangelize the Functional Safety approach across organizational boundaries and with management.
  • Train other team members on Industrial Functional Safety
  • Interact with customers on technical aspects of Functional Safety in their applications
  • Travel domestically and internationally as required

Requirements

  • Bachelor or Master of Science in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or Computer Science with 3-5 years of industry experience.
  • An intimate knowledge of IEC61508 (other industrial safety standards also beneficial)
  • 3 to 5 years developing System / Hardware Safety products for Industrial applications (architecting, designing, simulation, analysis)
  • Familiar with IEC61508 assessment with external certification bodies
  • Experience in a requirements driven process
  • Experience in program management or other coordination functions within technical programs.
  • Experience working in Chinese industrial companies
  • Experience working with people outside of China, preferably Europe and the US
  • Experience presenting to customers and internal audiences, from technical teams to mid-level management
  • Demonstrate clear communication, capacity for influencing, convincing
  • Capability to shift from technical discussion to coordinating activities across internal and external parties
  • Comfortable working with the ambiguity inherent in implementing new technologies, complex Functional Safety products
  • Demonstrate knowledge of Industrial Safety, specifically on IEC61508 and also on other international industrial safety standards
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills spanning technical contributors, customers, and external partners
  • Strong verbal and written Mandarin and English.
