About the team:
The Account team builds next-generation user center solutions for millions of users across the globe. The team needs to cope with an ever-growing user base, continuously changing crypto regulatory requirements in both existing and new markets, plus ever-increasing challenges from account security. While coping with all these changes, the team continues to ensure seamless user experience and system stability through attention to detail and endless innovation. As Engineering Director, you will lead this dynamic team, driving strategic vision, fostering innovation, and scaling solutions to meet global demands.
 
Responsibilities:
  • Lead the design and architecture of high-performance, scalable, and user-friendly user center services, guiding the team in implementation while ensuring alignment with business goals.
  • Oversee the development and delivery of solutions to meet diverse regulatory requirements across global markets, collaborating with legal and compliance teams to anticipate and adapt to changes.
  • Drive the creation of innovative security solutions to protect users' accounts, leveraging technologies in encryption, multi-factor authentication, threat detection, and beyond, while setting the strategic direction for security initiatives.
  • Foster close collaboration with Product, Design, Marketing, and other cross-functional teams to accelerate innovation, mentor engineers, and build high-performing teams.
  • Develop and execute engineering strategies, including resource allocation, talent development, and process improvements to enhance team productivity and system reliability.
  • Champion agile methodologies, promote best practices in software development, and ensure the team's output supports business growth and user satisfaction.
  • Manage cross-office and cross-time-zone teams, promoting a culture of inclusivity, continuous learning, and high performance.
 
Requirements:
  • 10+ years of experience in software engineering, with at least 5 years in a leadership role (e.g., Engineering Manager or Director) overseeing microservices/API development teams, preferably with Java/Spring Boot/Spring Cloud.
  • Proven track record in leading teams through multi-threading, distributed architectures, and integration with mainstream middleware such as Kafka, Redis, ELK, etc.
  • Strong experience with relational databases and a deep understanding of data structures, algorithms, design patterns, and scalable system design.
  • Expertise in cloud-based Linux environments and a history of delivering high-impact projects in regulated industries (e.g., fintech, crypto).
  • Demonstrated success in agile development processes, including TDD, CI/CD, and Scrum, with experience scaling teams and processes.
  • Extensive experience leading distributed teams across offices and time zones, with strong skills in talent management, mentoring, and performance optimization.
  • Knowledge in Spring Security and familiarity with security best practices in user account management is a plus.
  • Fluent in English; knowledge of Mandarin is a plus.
  • Exceptional leadership and communication skills, with the ability to influence stakeholders, drive strategic initiatives, and foster innovation in a fast-paced environment.
