We are now seeking a Quality Control Manager that must be located within a commuting distance to Shanghai.

About the Role:

We are seeking an experienced Quality Control Manager with strong expertise in the clothing industry to lead QC operations in Shanghai. The ideal candidate is hands-on, highly organised, and able to ensure that all products meet both buyer expectations and brand quality standards. This role requires excellent English communication skills (spoken and written) to liaise effectively with buyers, suppliers, and the UK head office.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Inspect samples and bulk production based on design sheets, buyer comments, and approved lab dips. Assist buyers in approving samples.
  • Lead and coordinate PP meetings with supplier departments to ensure compliance with standards, regulations, and brand requirements.
  • Monitor inline and final production quality, identify issues, and implement solutions to maintain high standards.
  • Fill in AQL reports for production inspections and submit them to the UK head office.
  • Manage quality issues with factories and production teams, ensuring timely corrective actions.
  • Communicate daily with customers and factories regarding quality concerns and sample developments.
  • Oversee fabric, trim, and accessory development, ensuring materials meet product specifications.
  • Review and issue product sheets, packing requests, and inspection reports, ensuring production aligns with customer requirements.
  • Identify potential below-standard items prior to production and apply for approvals or exceptions when necessary.
  • Maintain clear documentation and quality records for all production stages.

Requirements:

  • Minimum 5 years of QC experience in the clothing/apparel industry.
  • Strong knowledge of garment materials, accessories, cut, sewing, and knit construction.
  • Proven experience with sample approval, PP meetings, factory inspections, and quality issue resolution.
  • Experience preparing and submitting AQL reports to head office or buyers.
  • Excellent English communication skills (spoken and written).
  • Detail-oriented, proactive, and capable of managing multiple tasks across factories and buyers.
  • Ability to travel to factories for inspections and training.
