MUFG Bank is seeking a Vice President to join their Fixed Income and Collateral Control Operations team in Hong Kong. This is an exceptional opportunity for you to step into a pivotal role where your expertise will directly influence operational excellence, regulatory compliance, and the overall success of the department. You will be empowered to support the Team Head, act as deputy, and drive improvements across workflows and vendor relationships.

  • Play a key role in supporting the Team Head by aligning with departmental goals and facilitating communication across teams while providing subject matter expertise.

  • Take on significant responsibility as deputy for Fixed Income & Collateral Control Operations, overseeing transactions and ensuring strict compliance with regulations and best practices.

What you'll do:

As Vice President – Fixed Income and Collateral Control Operations, you will play a central role in driving operational excellence within the team. Your day-to-day responsibilities will involve supporting the Team Head in achieving departmental objectives while acting as a trusted deputy who oversees critical transaction activities. You will be instrumental in monitoring both interbank and customer transactions to ensure accuracy and timeliness. Collaboration will be at the heart of your work as you partner with various stakeholders to implement procedural changes that uphold regulatory standards. Vendor management will also fall under your remit, requiring you to maintain high levels of efficiency and compliance across outsourced operations. Additionally, you will be expected to continuously review workflows, identify opportunities for improvement, re-engineer processes when needed, and deliver targeted training sessions to staff members. Success in this role hinges on your ability to foster teamwork, communicate effectively across departments, and maintain rigorous standards of compliance.

  • Support the Team Head by aligning departmental objectives with broader organisational goals, facilitating open communication channels among team members, and offering expert advice on complex matters.

  • Act as deputy for Fixed Income & Collateral Control Operations by overseeing daily transaction activities, ensuring all processes adhere to regulatory requirements, and implementing best practices to optimise efficiency and manage risk effectively.

  • Monitor interbank and customer transactions meticulously to guarantee accurate and timely processing while maintaining a robust system for ongoing monitoring and reporting.

  • Collaborate closely with business units and functional teams to implement new operational procedures or system changes, ensuring full regulatory compliance and minimising disruption to existing workflows.

  • Manage relationships with external vendors by overseeing outsourced processes, ensuring they meet company standards for efficiency and compliance, and addressing any issues promptly.

  • Review current workflows regularly to identify areas for improvement, re-engineer procedures where necessary to enhance operational efficiency, ensure alignment with company policies, and provide comprehensive staff training as required.

What you bring:

To excel as Vice President – Fixed Income and Collateral Control Operations, you will bring a wealth of experience gained from at least eight years working within treasury functions—three of which should have been spent supervising others. Your background will include hands-on exposure to a wide range of treasury products alongside an intricate understanding of regulatory frameworks governing these areas. You will possess strong communication skills that enable you to collaborate seamlessly with colleagues across different departments while nurturing positive relationships with external partners. Your leadership style will be marked by empathy, dependability, and an ability to guide teams through periods of change. Proficiency in technology—especially Excel—will allow you to analyse data efficiently while fluency in Cantonese and English ensures clear communication throughout the organisation. Your approach will be collaborative; you'll value inclusivity; you'll demonstrate sensitivity towards others' perspectives; and you'll consistently strive for excellence through ongoing learning.

  • University education or above is essential for this position as it demonstrates your foundational knowledge required for success.

  • A minimum of 8 years' experience in treasury operations is required, including at least 3 years at supervisor level which highlights your proven track record in managing teams.

  • Comprehensive understanding of treasury products ensures you can navigate complex financial instruments confidently.

  • In-depth knowledge of regulatory requirements relevant to treasury operations allows you to maintain compliance at all times.

  • Familiarity with internal operational policies and procedures enables you to align daily activities with organisational standards.

  • Excellent communication skills are vital for facilitating collaboration between teams and stakeholders.

  • Strong interpersonal abilities help you build trust within the team and foster a supportive environment.

  • Demonstrated leadership capabilities are necessary for guiding staff through change management initiatives.

  • Advanced computer literacy with particular proficiency in Excel supports efficient data analysis and reporting.

  • Fluency in both Cantonese and English is required for effective communication within the organisation.
