Overview of Major Coverage:

To advise and provide legal coverage to the locally incorporated banking entity (the “LIB”) of JPMorgan in China, with primary coverage extending to general LIB legal matters (including addressing regulatory requirements from legal perspective) and supporting client transactions and other line of business specific matters.

Role and Responsibilities:

• Provide general legal advice and support to a variety of LIB’s legal and regulatory matters, including, but not limited to, providing legal and regulatory updates, preparing research papers requested by regulators, and addressing other regulatory requirements from legal perspective.

• Provide legal advice in response to enquiries from internal stakeholders, assist the management and lines of business of the LIB to procure that appropriate forms of legal documents are used for dealings with clients/counterparties with adequate protections and remedies to address credit and event risk, and help management and lines of business to determine that transactions with clients/counterparties are valid and enforceable under the laws of relevant jurisdictions.

• Provide legal analysis in relation to new business initiatives and products.

• Assist in developing standard form documentation, and review standard-form documentation and propose changes to ensure that they remain appropriate in light of legal, regulatory and market developments.

• Assist in the drafting, negotiation and completion of contractual documentation with clients and counterparties.

• Coordinate delivery of legal services and work closely with other Legal colleagues around the globe on legal matters impacting the LIB.

• Identify and reduce legal risk.

• Control the quality and cost of legal services provided by external law firm and select, instruct and manage external law firms.

• Other matters assigned by the Legal Department of the LIB from time to time.

Requirements and Qualifications:

• PRC qualified lawyer with at least 5 years of post-qualification legal experience.

• Excellent analytical, counselling, communication, negotiation and interpersonal skills with sound legal and ethical judgement.

• Able to work with senior management and lead initiatives involving multiple lines of business and support functions.

• Able to communicate well and be a good team player to work in a cross-functional team to achieve common goals.

• Ability to identify and escalate issues timely and appropriately.

• Ability to work under pressure, prioritize and respond to business needs and goals.

• English and Chinese fluency (both written and oral) required.
