Amazon is seeking an experienced Accountant based in Shanghai, CN. This team focuses on improving customer experience at Amazon globally.

The Accountant will be hands-on and have an entrepreneurial spirit / start-up mindset as they support the operational accounting of a global team, which includes day-to-day management of financial accounts, indirect tax support, and annual audit support. They will provide analytical support for key business decisions and participate in strategic planning. They will prepare key metrics and weekly, monthly, quarterly finance reporting as well as support processes for analyzing performance to understand business variations.

Key job responsibilities
- Own operational accounting for multiple countries worldwide – day-to-day management of financial accounts, indirect tax support, and annual audit support.
- Own CN accounting/compliance and build/maintain relationships with Amazon Finance, Legal, Accounting, and Tax teams.
- Support in ongoing financial reporting, analysis, and forecasting.
- Perform deep dive analysis to understand drivers of business.
- Work with other teams to ensure our financial reporting is in sync with other systems.
- Participate in the business and improve processes to grow the business.
- Support tax teams by providing audited Financial Statements, other documents for tax compliance.

We are a team of builders that develop products, services, ideas, and various ways of leveraging data to influence product and service offerings for almost every business at Amazon - for every customer (e.g., consumers, developers, sellers/brands, employees, investors, streamers, gamers).

Our approach is based on determining the customer needs, along with problem solving, and we work backwards from there. We use technical and non-technical approaches and stay aware of industry and business trends. We are a global team, made up of a diverse set of profiles, skills, and backgrounds - including: Product Managers, Software Developers, Computer Vision experts, Solution Architects, Data Scientists, Business Intelligence Engineers, Business Analysts, Risk Managers, and more.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

- 3+ years of tax, finance or a related analytical field experience
- Degree in accounting or related field with sufficient experience to sit for the CPA exam (a CPA license is not required for this position)

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

- CPA
- 4+ years of participating in continuous improvement projects in your team to scale and improve controllership with measurable results experience
- Knowledge of internal control framework (specifically COSO) to assess control design and operational efficiency
- Experience working with large-scale data mining and reporting tools (examples: SQL, MS Access, Essbase, Cognos) and other financial systems (examples: Oracle, SAP, Lawson, JD Edwards)
- Experience with start-up, entrepreneurship
