Purpose of the role:

Our global Marketing Procurement ambition is to be the Gateway to the Agency ecosystem, connecting the Marketing and Commercial teams with the best talent and expertise of the outside world and ensuring seamless integration into the Diageo ways of working. The global Marketing Procurement COE is fundamental to the marketing productivity agenda, driving growth by eliminating inefficient spend and waste from the system, using insights and commercial expertise to deliver value, managing risk and agency performance and championing Diageo’s 2030 goals.

APAC Procurement CoE delivers significant contribution towards Diageo business, productivity and growth goals. Within the Marketing A&P the Media, is seeking to deliver value creation to support operating margin improvement and competitive advantage through sourcing, negotiation, ROI optimisation and agency management, leveraging the sweet spot between efficiencies and effectiveness of our A&P investment.

The Market Category Manager APAC - Media is responsible for the management of projects, sourcing & suppliers relationship management in APAC.

This category is complex, with varying stakeholder needs, and engaging senior stakeholders (which includes Managing Directors, Marketing Directors, Finance Directors). The prime accountability for the role is to drive value through ensuring the commercial elements of spend in this category are executed brilliantly with our agency partners. This role will lead sourcing decisions with key stakeholders and will support the maximisation of value as well as ROI, whilst minimising risk, from all external spend - assuring quality of delivery and performance.

The marketing category is additionally going through a period of transformation. Digital media is growing in importance, with data and technology becoming strategically more integrated in our planning and creative decision making. The role will play a key part in developing and driving the Diageo Future Media transformation for APAC, going from media client to media leader, and transitioning to new agency ways of working and development of a strategic agency partnership.

We are seeking an experienced Marketing Procurement Manager to be part of our team in managing these exciting categories. If you’re great at building relationships, broad strategic thinker, collaborative and passionate about delivering efficiencies in advertising we want you on our team. We are looking for an independent self-started and strong performer to help deliver results for APAC. This position will report into Market Category Director - Media, Digital, Advertising and Content (based in Singapore)

Scope for the individual: Australia, Singapore, Indonesia, Thailand, Vietnam, Philippine, Malaysia.

The core activities/deliverables of this role are:

Implement global sourcing strategy, contract management, risk management, supplier performance management for the region, operating with a strategic mindset and in collaboration with key stakeholders to ensure full alignment with global strategies. Lead supplier relationship management activities with strategic suppliers Develop strong relationships with all key marketing stakeholders and regional stakeholders in Marketing /Centre of Digital Excellence (CoDE) / Procurement to drive continuous improvement agenda & identifying opportunities. Ability to establish oneself as a trusted business partner. Strong commercial acumen, understanding of the business, and judgement; creating value. Experience of establishing agency partnerships and the how to structure deals in this area. Strong project, operational and change management capabilities. Demonstration of personal accountability for great performance and brilliant execution. Manage and achieve/exceed the annual cost savings and productivity performance targets. Jointly set objectives with stakeholders, undertake agency business reviews to reflect achievements against established KPI’s, analyze performance and skill gaps, and actively manage continuous performance. Collaboratively identify development needs and action plans. Deliver excellence benefits through sourcing, demand management, supplier relationship management, contract management, and supplier development and supplier innovation. Promote the highest standards of ethics and compliance consistently.

Complexity of the Role:

Working across a range of complex projects with multiple stakeholders. Multiple projects running at any one time requiring effective management of time and priorities. Alcohol restrictions, duty barriers and legislations further complicate the marketing procurement landscape and local/global media monopolies exist within the region. Strong influencing and communication skills needed to bring stakeholders & suppliers on the journey to successful implementation of projects.

Qualifications & Experience required:

5 years+ Procurement, Marketing experience in an FMCG environment or Media agency experience. Experience in ecommerce, media buying & planning or digital agencies a plus Categories exposure in marketing – creative agencies, media, digital, relationship marketing, social media, events/experiential, PR, sponsorship, POS, etc Must have proven competency working across diverse teams with varied business goals in preparation for working across a matrix of internal and external stakeholders Capability & experience in leading change and transformation in media/marketing space. Strong analytical skills, including forensic understanding of the cost drivers to target and influence costs through end-to-end value. Ability to work in an agile, fast moving environment and ability to keep up with pace of change and prioritize according to business needs. Strong communication and influencing skills with both internal and external stakeholders. Cultural awareness and sensitivity are essential. Fluent in English (written and verbal) is mandatory. Additional languages a plus (Mandarin, Japanese, etc.) Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Marketing or related field, or related experience Able to effectively work within diverse cross functional teams
