Job Overview

TE Connectivity's Trade Compliance Teams interpret laws, rules, and regulations regarding shipping and prepare applications for import/export control certifications and licenses.

We are building a world-class Global Trade Services (GTS) organization, and the Appliances Business Unit Manager plays a critical role in supporting trade operations and compliance within the Business Unit (BU). The BU Manager acts as a trusted advisor and key team member in TE's Operational Compliance team for the BU. This role aims to facilitate TE's compliance at the BU level with import and export regulations globally to enhance global trade compliance, reduce risk, increase responsiveness to issues and opportunities, and effectively manage international trade operations.

This role reports to the Appliances BU GTS Global Lead/SM and is a key member of the Global Trade Services team, joining a group of professionals passionate about ensuring the future growth of the business by providing compliance solutions with global trade laws and regulations.

The successful candidate will collaborate and thrive in a global environment, maintaining integrity, taking accountability, and working together.

Responsibilities:
  • Serve as a subject matter expert for trade operations of China, the Asia-Pacific (APAC) region, and have foundational knowledge of trade regulations in the Americas and EMEA
  • Implement and execute trade operations, provide compliance oversight for the assigned BU, plants, and DC to ensure TE's compliance with import/export laws and regulations
  • Maintain trade operations and compliance activities following TE policies, procedures, and controls, collaborating with key stakeholders throughout the BU
  • Act as the point of contact for BU stakeholders on trade-related matters
  • Engage BU stakeholders and counsel to understand business changes, develop trade-related solutions/strategies, and ensure compliance
  • Maintain BU-level Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and reporting for operational efficiency and effectiveness
  • Establish and maintain relationships with trade-related government entities in partnership with GTS Governance and GTS Operation Service Center
What your background should look like:
  • Partner with Trade Compliance Professionals and Stakeholders across the Enterprise
  • Monitor trade compliance regulatory and legislative changes, assess potential impacts, and determine necessary actions
  • Conduct trade compliance audits, oversee corrective action plans, and provide trade compliance training
  • Utilize GTS Operations Service Center for product classification, screening, duty savings compliance, and country of origin determination
  • Identify opportunities to facilitate trade compliance in a cost-effective manner
  • Collaborate with internal functions to proactively identify trade risks, threats, and develop appropriate controls

Requirement:
  • Bachelor's degree required (international business, supply chain, law, or related field)
  • 6+ years' experience in global trade compliance in the APAC region and China
  • Preferred: 3+ years' experience supporting trade functions within industrial, electronics, communications, transportation, or similar businesses
