About the team:

Core Technology (CT) is a global team responsible for managing the entire eBay technology platform. You will join an agile Content Platform team dedicated to cutting-edge development in eBay Live.

eBay is seeking a dedicated, collaborative, and enthusiastic Backend Software Engineer to contribute to eBay Live. While live commerce has gained popularity in Asia Pacific, it is still emerging in the Americas and EMEA regions, and we aim to become the preferred platform for this growing trend.

Responsibilities:

As a member of our Core AI Engineering team, you will be instrumental in building eBay Live.

  • Collaborate closely with peers, Architects, Product Managers, Business Analysts, Quality Engineers, and Operations teams to develop innovative solutions that meet standards and expectations.
  • Engage in development, testing, release, bug fixing, documentation, and collaborate in an Agile environment using tools like JIRA, Git, CICD, and other internal eBay platforms.
  • Take part in technical design and code reviews, offer feedback to team members, and deliver high-performance, low-latency, and resilient code with extensive test coverage, continuous integration, and production monitoring.
  • Address and troubleshoot production issues, mentor junior team members, and contribute to the team's success.

Job Requirements:

  • BS/BA in Computer Science or related field with 10 years of experience or MS with 8 years of relevant experience.
  • Proficiency in JVM languages (Java, Kotlin), building large-scale distributed systems, designing RESTful APIs with Spring Boot, and building event-driven applications.
  • Strong communication and leadership skills to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
  • Hands-on experience with GraphQL, backend system architecture, design patterns, common data structures, algorithms, DevOps principles, and continuous delivery.
  • Ability to interact with colleagues and customers from various functional groups and remote locations.
  • Previous experience in Live Commerce or Live Stream is a significant plus.
