Main Purpose of the Role

  • Define and drive local implementation of the Ice Cream Communications & Corporate Affairs (C&CA) strategy in the BU Asia, focusing on China to support the Ice Cream local vision and align with the global C&CA strategy.
  • In some other countries within the BU Asia, you'll recruit resources reporting into this role (Director Communications & Corporate Affairs and Sustainability Manager, Ice Cream Asia).
  • Manage Ice Cream's reputation in the BU and externally, aligning with Unilever's corporate reputation and the Ice Cream narrative.
  • Handle external communications, including media and government relations in China.
  • Oversee issues management for Ice Cream in the BU and establish a proactive influencer strategy alongside the brand and marketing teams.
  • Act as a trusted advisor to Ice Cream BU leadership team on communications and engagement, and support Ice Cream brand teams on reputation matters.
  • Lead public affairs in the BU with a focus on China and organize engagement events as needed.
  • Lead and mentor an Ice Cream BU C&CA team and partner with the BU GM on sustainability and communications topics.
  • Implement sustainability initiatives in the BU, with a focus on plastics and carbon efficiency.
  • Engage in advocacy and external outreach on sustainability focus areas in the BU.
  • Drive internal leadership communications to inspire employee engagement and commitment to the BU's vision and strategy.
  • Ensure integrated communications across the business and collaborate effectively with colleagues.

Key Requirements:

  • 10+ years of communications and corporate affairs experience
  • C-Suite business partnering and Leadership Team experience
  • Experience in managing large media platforms
  • Proven track record in delivering impactful external communications
  • Experience in leading advocacy programs and execution
  • Strong focus on sustainability and issues management
  • Excellent judgement and reputation management skills
  • Digital and technology savvy
  • Strong organization and multitasking skills
  • Initiative and ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment
  • Experience in line management and budget oversight
  • Preference for Food, Ice Cream, or Snacking industry experience
  • Fluency in English and Chinese
  • Exceptional writing skills for speeches and strategic briefings
