  • We're looking to recruit a new University Guidance Counsellor with specialization in UK university application to join our NACIS Shanghai school, a Nord Anglia Education school. The new UGC will have a focus on UK university applications.

THE SCHOOL

  • Founded in September 2016, NACIS Shanghai offers students a creative, challenging, and rewarding learning experience. Students aged 6 to 18 years old are welcomed into our progressive and internationally minded school community. We offer a distinctive bilingual, blended learning programme leading to the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme. Located in the Minhang District of Shanghai, the school has world-class facilities that complement our innovative approach.
  • Our staff are from 10 different countries with significant numbers of colleagues from China, the UK, Ireland, and North America.

THE ROLE

  • As a collaborative colleague, you will be an important part of our team who can offer students the very best guidance to support their university aspirations.
  • Working alongside students, parents, and teaching staff, you will be able to form strong relations with university admissions tutors and representatives.
  • You will have good understanding of the university application procedures for the UK, USA, Canada, and Australia and be able to develop an understanding of the procedures for many other countries. You will possess a good knowledge of IBDP.
  • You will be able to lead the careers education curriculum.
  • We'll look to you to promote high expectations for our students, designing learning activities that are aligned with our school's Secondary curriculum and creating a learning culture where there are no limits to what can be achieved. You will foster an environment of respect within the classroom, facilitating learning through questioning and discussion.

ABOUT YOU

  • You will be able to adapt quickly to our fast-paced international environment, you will possess a university degree, a recognized teaching qualification, and teaching experience. Committed and creative, you will be reflective on your teaching and student outcomes, seeking out and implementing new ideas and innovative methods to raise the school's level of achievement.
  • Keen to collaborate and share your specialist expertise, you will be a fitting ambassador for the school. You will communicate with confidence across diverse audiences and situations, using your expertise to build strong relationships with parents and students. You will also be able to meet visa-related restrictions for China, including at least 2 years of English teaching experience, a bachelor's degree notarized.
