Job Summary:

TE Connectivity's Engineering Project Management Teams oversee multifaceted engineering initiatives. They collaborate with Product Management, Sales, Quality, Manufacturing, Finance, and other departments to ensure that projects align with financial, scheduling, and customer expectations. Responsibilities include defining and developing project timelines, managing portfolios, facilitating communication, executing programs, identifying resource limitations, and collaborating with management for resolution, all while adhering to LeanPD methodologies.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Ownership of New Product Development (NPD) Projects: Take full responsibility for NPD projects, employing various project management techniques to ensure timely, budget-compliant, and quality-driven project completion. Develop project plans and schedules in close cooperation with all relevant departments and team members. Define critical milestones and assess risks of delays to mitigate their impact on timelines. Regularly analyze project statuses and identify strategies to recover lost time. Maintain frequent communication with project team members regarding their tasks and deadlines, ensuring timely completion. Document deviations from target schedules and adjust plans as necessary.
  2. Budget and Cost Management: Oversee project budgets and product cost planning, simulating product costs, including parts and tooling, during the early project phases. Manage and control the project's Profit and Loss (P&L) throughout all project stages with a clear financial perspective.
  3. Status Reporting: Provide timely updates on schedule adjustments and communicate changes frequently with team members. Deliver comprehensive updates, including statistical evaluations and recommendations to the Project Approval Committee (PAC) in accordance with the project gate plan. Highlight issues that may necessitate management involvement. Offer ad-hoc updates upon request and maintain a project information board for team members and management.
  4. Requirements Management: Organize customer requirements by evaluating collected marketing data (including discussions, interviews, surveys, specifications, field reports, and complaints) to compile the Product Requirements Document (PRD) and verify it against Design Objectives with team members.
  5. Additional Responsibilities: Engage in continuous improvement initiatives, support sustaining projects, and assist management and other teams or colleagues as needed.

Qualifications:

  • A minimum of a bachelor's degree in mechanical or electrical engineering or a related field.
  • At least 5 years of experience in mechanical/electrical design and/or manufacturing in a project management capacity, preferably within a multinational corporation.
  • Hands-on experience with project management methodologies and principles; PMP certification is advantageous.
  • A strong commitment to driving and leading projects.
  • Solid understanding of product cost simulation and P&L management.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple projects effectively.
  • Capacity to foresee potential issues and resolve them proactively.
  • Familiarity with interconnectivity products is a plus.
  • Understanding of FMEA and DFM principles.
  • Able to thrive in a culturally diverse environment.
  • Exceptional communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
  • Methodical and cautious approach to tasks.
  • Fluency in written and spoken English and Chinese.
  • Strong financial acumen regarding project budgets and contract negotiations.
  • Proficient in MS Project.
