Position Overview

at Allnex, we're seeking a talented Innovation Scientist to join our R&D team in Shanghai, China. As a key member of our team, you'll play a crucial role in developing innovative polymer products and technology for lithium-ion batteries and electronics.

We're looking for a professional with a strong background in organic polymer or colloid chemistry, who can provide expert guidance on product, process, and customer-specific issues. Your expertise will help us stay at the forefront of our industry, driving business growth in new application domains.

Responsibilities

  1. Lead cross-functional teams to deliver sustainable new products that meet regional/global customer and business needs.
  2. Provide professional guidance on product, process, and customer-specific issues to internal and external stakeholders.
  3. Interface with the academic world, scouting and cooperating on new technologies, and collaborating with allnex application laboratories and customers.
  4. Actively promote allnex technology at conferences and contribute to its protection via patent applications.
  5. Evaluate freedom of operation and participate in the allnex IP process for new technologies.
  6. Lead and contribute to new projects, focusing on medium to long-term innovation.
  7. Provide guidance to lab technicians on new technologies and processes.
  8. Create sales tools and launch packages for new technologies and product promotions.
  9. Prepare and present new technologies and solutions in internal and external meetings and seminars.
  10. Ensure easy transition to commercialization for new products by providing strong support to the plant while scaling up.

Required Skills and Experience

  1. 4+ years of progressive experience in similar technologies (polyacrylate, polyurethane, polyimide, polyester, epoxy, etc.) from battery, coating, or adhesive industries.
  2. Hands-on experience working in laboratory environments for synthesis and material characterization.
  3. Demonstrated ingenuity and innovativeness.
  4. Good collaboration skills with diverse fields, including chemists and physicists.
  5. Strong problem-solving skills and resilience.
  6. Good communication and interpersonal skills.
  7. Proficient in English speaking and writing.
  8. Strong focus on achieving results, prioritizing tasks, and meeting deadlines.
  9. Good organizational skills in preparation and execution of lab experiments.
  10. A team player with ability to collaborate with multiple locations/disciplines to deliver results.
  11. Project management skills, demonstrating ability to define project, integrate cross-discipline team members, and deliver to project goals on schedule.
  12. Highly self-motivated.
  13. Demonstrated eagerness to learn.
  14. Displaying a positive outlook and willingness to deal with stress in complex situations.

Qualifications

  1. Ph.D. or Master's Degree in Organic Polymer or Colloid Chemistry, with practical expertise in preparation.
