Job Summary

As a Product Development Manager at adidas, you will lead and manage a team of product developers to create innovative and high-quality footwear products. Your expertise in product development, design, and marketing will drive the development process, ensuring timely completion of tasks and meeting quality standards.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement strategic business unit direction, ensuring cross-functional alignment within the creation teams.
  • Collaborate with Marketing and Design to achieve OKRs and drive business growth.
  • Identify new business opportunities and drive key product and process innovations.
  • Manage material development and costing aspects, ensuring BU objectives are met.
  • Supervise the costing process and assume responsibility for meeting category margin targets.
  • Ensure continuous product and process improvement, with a focus on leading and right-first-time development.
  • Manage team budgets and workload, allocating projects to development teams based on experience and product complexity.
  • Work with the development organization to support and develop T1, Sourcing, and QA strategies.
  • Provide clear direction, projects, and targets aligned with business needs and GOPS objectives.
  • Create a motivational work environment, providing performance feedback and career development opportunities.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Strong communication and facilitation skills, with the ability to deliver effective presentations.
  • Ability to think strategically, anticipate problems, and develop innovative solutions.
  • Ability to manage through change, make decisions, and act comfortably with risk and uncertainty.
  • Ability to coach, guide, manage, and develop a team.
  • Good understanding of sourcing allocation impact on product from a quality and cost perspective.
  • Fluent in English (written and spoken).
  • Strong IT skills (MS office, PDM, CAD).
  • Travel, domestic and international, as required by business needs.
Requisite Education and Experience
  • Four-year college or university degree with emphasis on footwear technology and/or manufacturing.
  • Minimum 7 years of progressive work experience in the athletic footwear industry, specializing in product development, design, and/or marketing.
  • 1-2 years of experience in Merchandising, Production, or Development.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience managing a team.
  • Exposure to the latest in materials, components, processes, and concepts.
