Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Product Development Manager to lead our footwear development team at adidas. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing a team of product developers to complete the footwear product creation process for assigned business units.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement strategic business unit direction, ensuring cross-functional alignment within creation teams.
  • Collaborate with marketing and design teams to achieve OKRs and drive key product and process innovations.
  • Identify new business opportunities and provide input to short-, mid-, and long-term planning and budgeting.
  • Work with adidas innovation and materials development teams to research new technologies and materials.
  • Manage material development and costing aspects, ensuring business unit objectives are met.
  • Supervise costing processes and assume responsibility for meeting category margin targets.
  • Ensure continuous product and process improvement, focusing on leading and right-first-time development.
  • Manage team budgets and workload, allocating projects to development teams based on experience and product complexity.
  • Develop and implement strategies for T1, sourcing, and QA.
  • Provide clear direction, projects, and targets aligned with business needs and GOPS objectives.
  • Create a motivational work environment, challenging and coaching employees while providing performance feedback and career development opportunities.

Requirements:

  • Four-year college or university degree with emphasis on footwear technology and/or manufacturing
  • Minimum 7 years of progressive work experience in the athletic footwear industry, specializing in product development, design, and/or marketing
  • 1-2 years of experience in merchandising, production, or development
  • Minimum 3 years of experience managing a team
  • Exposure to the latest in materials, components, processes, and concepts
