Data Governance Consultant Role Overview

The Data Governance Consultant is a crucial role at Bosch, responsible for leading data governance initiatives. This individual will develop and implement data governance frameworks, policies, and procedures to ensure data management practices align with organizational goals and objectives.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop a comprehensive data governance framework aligning with organizational goals and industry best practices.
  • Establish policies, standards, and procedures for data collection, storage, usage, and sharing.
  • Provide guidance in policy design and quantification through KPIs to measure success and maturity.
  • Ensure accountability and identify areas for improvement.

Data Quality Management

  • Design and implement data quality standards and processes for accuracy, completeness, and reliability.
  • Collaborate with data stewards and business units to define and enforce data quality metrics.
  • Enhance the framework for moving from data quality need to metric.

Metadata Management

  • Oversee metadata repository creation and maintenance for data understanding and lineage.
  • Define and implement metadata standards for improved data discoverability and transparency.

Data Classification and Security

  • Develop data classification schemes and protect sensitive information.
  • Collaborate with IT security teams for compliance with regulatory requirements.

Data Stewardship

  • Work with data stewards to assign ownership and accountability for data assets.
  • Provide guidance and support to data stewards in data quality and integrity maintenance.

Compliance and Regulatory Management

  • Stay current with data protection laws and regulations.
  • Evaluate organizational compliance with these standards and maintain auditing and reporting processes.

Data Lifecycle Management

  • Define and implement data lifecycle policies for retention, archiving, and disposal.
  • Collaborate with business units for optimized data storage and access.

Stakeholder Engagement

  • Collaborate with stakeholders to ensure data governance meets business needs.
  • Communicate data governance policies and standards to stakeholders and provide training and support.

Qualifications

  • Experience in data governance, data management, or related roles.
  • Strong understanding of data quality principles, metadata management, and data classification.
  • Knowledge of relevant data protection and privacy regulations.
  • Experience with data governance tools and technologies.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.

Desirable Qualifications

  • Preferably experience within DAMA (DMBOK).
  • Native-level proficiency in Chinese and good command on written and spoken English.
