As a Material Development Engineer in our APAC Elastomer Development Group, you'll play a crucial role in accelerating our customers' performance and driving business forward.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead material-related activities in support of APAC strategic vertical markets, ensuring customer satisfaction and driving business growth.
  • Initiate and coordinate material research and development activities, aligning with APAC vertical markets' technology roadmaps.
  • Convert customer needs into material requirements, researching and developing rubber formulations and modification technologies to meet product specifications.
  • Provide differentiated value to customers by applying scientific fundamentals to innovate and apply the best technical solutions.
  • Drive innovation through the formulation of new materials, coatings, and polymer solutions to tackle industry problems and build new market opportunities.
  • Analyze and interpret test results, providing recommendations on material selection, test design, compounding guidelines, molding guidelines, product testing, regulatory needs, and vendor selection.
  • Provide manufacturing support for compounding, prototyping, and molding, ensuring seamless production processes.
  • Stay up-to-date with local and global industry-relevant regulatory needs, collaborating with internal compliance services to manage all regulatory requirements.
  • Communicate with vendors and customers in the APAC region to resolve material-related technical issues.
  • Provide technical support to other APAC organizations, applying sound project management tools to drive success.
  • Maintain collaborative technical relationships with material and product development scientists in Europe and North America, participating in relevant Teams meetings.
Requirements
  • PhD degree with 10+ years of relevant experience or MS degree with 13+ years of meaningful experience in chemistry, chemical engineering, polymer science, material engineering, or related fields.
  • Background in elastomers/rubber compound development or sophisticated material development in a related technical field.
  • Familiarity with elastomers, fillers, and/or reinforced composites.
  • Proficiency in statistical design and analysis of experimental data.
  • Strong problem-solving and data analysis skills, with demonstrated attention to detail.
  • Exceptional communication and technical documentation skills.
  • Ability to multi-task and prioritize to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Availability for 25% travel: domestic and international.
Preferred Qualifications
  • In-depth knowledge in rubber chemistry, thermoplastics, physics, performance, Design of Experiment (DOE), and testing.
  • Experience in elastomeric formulation for multifaceted applications.
  • Understanding of structure/property relationships in materials.
