WDM Solutions Applications Specialist

Your Role

As a Field Applications Engineer (FAE), you will be responsible for delivering exceptional customer service through both pre-sales and post-sales technical assistance. Your expertise will guide customers in the realm of Optical Communication Wavelength Division Multiplexing (WDM) Solutions, including but not limited to Optical Amplifiers, Optical Monitors, Optical Switches, and Optical Line Cards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide timely responses to customer inquiries via phone and email concerning WDM product-related issues.
  • Conduct thorough research and troubleshooting to identify and resolve network challenges associated with WDM products, including potential onsite support for key clients.
  • Manage follow-ups with clients independently to ensure resolution of issues.
  • Participate in customer meetings and follow-up discussions on-site as required, including simulating client environments to assess the applicability of WDM products.
  • Document all support interactions in the company’s CRM system.
  • Address initial Return Merchandise Authorization (RMA) requests and evaluate the necessity for product returns.
  • Develop and deliver training materials and sessions for clients to enhance their understanding of WDM solutions.
  • Analyze customer specifications and recommend suitable products that meet their requirements.
  • Assist clients in designing their Optical networks and suggest appropriate WDM solutions.
    • Support distributors and partners in cross-referencing third-party products with WDM offerings.
    • Collaborate with sales and marketing teams to present WDM product introductions and articulate the value proposition to potential customers.
  • Attend relevant trade shows and industry events to represent the company.
  • Stay informed about industry trends and customer needs, sharing insights with internal teams as necessary.

Qualifications

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, preferably in a computer-related discipline.
  • Over 8 years of experience in designing Linux embedded products and optical communication technologies.
  • Proficiency in programming with C/C++.
  • Strong skills in developing software application protocols, including CLI, TL1, SNMPV2/V3, and WEB.
  • In-depth knowledge of embedded platforms such as ARM, DSP, PowerPC, and x86 architectures.
  • Expertise in software development for Linux operating systems, including applications and drivers.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Familiarity with hardware and optical design principles.
  • Understanding of manufacturing processes.
  • Experience with optical system integration equipment design.
