Your Role

As a Field Applications Engineer (FAE), you will be responsible for delivering exceptional customer service and technical expertise in the realm of Optical Communication Wavelength Division Multiplexing (WDM) Solutions. This includes providing both pre-sales and post-sales support through various communication channels, recommending suitable products, and conducting training sessions for partners and end users.

Key Responsibilities

  • Address customer inquiries via phone and email regarding WDM product-related issues.
  • Investigate, diagnose, and resolve network challenges faced by customers concerning WDM products; provide on-site technical assistance to key clients when necessary.
  • Conduct follow-ups with clients independently to ensure satisfaction and resolution of issues.
  • Participate in client meetings at their locations to discuss ongoing concerns and follow-up on previous issues.
  • Simulate client environments to evaluate the compatibility of WDM products within their networks.
  • Document all support interactions in the company’s Customer Relationship Management (CRM) system.
  • Manage initial Return Merchandise Authorization (RMA) inquiries and assess the need for product returns.
  • Develop training materials and conduct technical training sessions for clients.
  • Analyze customer specifications and recommend products that meet their requirements.
  • Assist clients in designing their Optical networks and suggest appropriate WDM solutions.
  • Support distributors and partners in aligning third-party products with WDM offerings.
  • Collaborate with sales and marketing teams to introduce WDM products and articulate their value to potential customers.
  • Attend relevant trade shows and industry events as required.
  • Stay informed about industry trends and customer needs, sharing insights with relevant internal teams.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in an engineering discipline related to computer science.
  • Over 8 years of experience in designing Linux embedded products and optical communication technologies.
  • Proficient in programming with C/C++.
  • Strong skills in developing software application protocols, including CLI, TL1, SNMPV2/V3, and web technologies.
  • In-depth knowledge of embedded platforms such as ARM, DSP, PowerPC, and x86 architectures.
  • Expertise in software development for Linux operating systems, including application and driver development.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Understanding of hardware and optical design principles.
  • Familiarity with manufacturing processes.
  • Experience with optical system integration equipment design.
