Risk Evaluation Management Specialist

A risk evaluation management specialist is responsible for conducting a comprehensive risk assessment of new and existing clients with high-risk attributes. This involves reviewing the client's KYC profile to determine whether to onboard or maintain the relationship from an AML perspective. The specialist must have a deep understanding of risk concepts, be able to identify root causes, and analyze complex issues.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Understanding global KYC policies, standards, and procedures
  • Assessing various components of the KYC profile to support client disposition
  • Identifying and analyzing interconnected risks within the KYC profile
  • Investigating risks components to understand context and resolve material issues
  • Providing clear, concise, and self-sustaining risk analyses to support client disposition
  • Disposing of each KYC profile in a timely and effective manner
  • Providing advice from an AML perspective on issues escalated by the business
  • Escalating AML concerns or significant suspicious activities to senior management
  • Coordinating workflow of KYC records routed to the risk evaluation management team
  • Applying risk rating overrides in applicable systems when requested by AML/non-AML functions
  • Tracking and performing reconciliation on requested risk rating overrides
  • Supporting management with provision of accurate weekly and monthly metrics
  • Reviewing KYC profiles with higher risk characteristics

Qualifications:

  • 2+ years of relevant work experience
  • Bachelor's degree and AML certification preferred
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to critically think and assess complex issues
  • Recent working knowledge of AML legislation and regulatory requirements
  • Ability to rapidly comprehend new and complex products
  • Commitment to understanding country-specific principles and business knowledge related to AML regulations
  • Proactive, organized, and ability to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Ability to manage and complete multiple tasks on time
  • Understanding appropriate escalation and follow-up methods when potential AML risk is identified
  • Ability to independently refer to policies and procedures and put into context with regards to this role
  • 3+ years of working experience in financial institutions

Education:

  • Bachelor's degree/University degree or equivalent experience
