Job Summary

We are looking for an experienced Electrical Hardware Development Specialist to design and develop electrical hardware components for our consumer-grade camera products. The successful candidate will work closely with cross-functional teams to drive key aspects of product definition, design, optimization, implementation, and test.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design electrical hardware components, including wireless (BT/RF) audio products, from concept to production.
  • Develop electrical circuit designs, PCB layouts, and manage electrical bills of materials.
  • Participate in and conduct electrical design reviews, collaborating with cross-functional teams to achieve project deliverables.
  • Create test requirements documents and define test limits to validate design functionality, quality, reliability, manufacturability, and safety.
  • Conduct design experiments and critical design validation tests, training test teams as needed.
  • Track and resolve technical issues, working with cross-functional teams.
  • Review and qualify alternative electrical parts during engineering validation and development stages, supporting sustaining engineering in qualifying alternative parts after PVT/MP stages.
  • Support compliance teams to ensure electrical designs meet EMC requirements.

Requirements and Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • M.S. or B.A. in Electrical Engineering or equivalent, with 10+ years of experience in electrical design and related fields in consumer products.
  • Experience designing electrical systems with BLE audio, such as wireless microphones and TWS earbuds.
  • Expertise in low-power design, minimizing power consumption in wireless microphone systems while balancing performance with energy efficiency.
  • Knowledge of designing electrical systems with microprocessors, memory devices, high-speed transceivers, Wi-Fi, BT, and GNSS devices, as well as PMICs.
  • Proficiency in various serial interfaces, including I2C, I2S, SPI, UART, USB 2/3, MIPI, HDMI, DP, PCIe, and SLVS-EC.
  • Experience with OrCAD CIS schematic and Allegro PCB EDA tools.
  • Proven ability to investigate root causes, complex design debugging, and problem-solving independently with minimal guidance.
  • Familiarity with audio codecs, such as SBC, AAC, LE3, and their impact on audio quality, latency, and power consumption.
  • Proficiency in designing RF circuits, antenna matching, and optimizing transmission and reception performance.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English, with the ability to work independently and collaboratively with cross-functional teams.

Desirable Skills

  • In-depth knowledge of Bluetooth protocols (Classic and Low Energy) and their application to wireless microphones.
  • Understanding of audio streaming over Bluetooth and reducing audio latency for real-time applications.
  • Familiarity with techniques for reducing ambient noise during audio capture to achieve noise reduction and high dynamic audio quality.
  • Experience with audio analyzers, spectrum analyzers, and oscilloscopes.
  • Familiarity with Bluetooth SIG certification and understanding of FCC, CE, and safety standards.
  • Hands-on experience with electrical lab equipment, including high-speed scopes, signal analyzers, TDR, etc.

Compensation

The estimated salary for this position is $150,000 - $180,000 per year, depending on location and experience.
