Caterpillar is seeking a highly skilled Supplier Development Engineer to join our team. As a key member of our organization, you will be responsible for ensuring that our suppliers meet the highest standards of quality, cost, and delivery.
Key Responsibilities- Assess and evaluate supplier processes to ensure compliance with manufacturing specifications and legal standards.
- Lead New Product Introduction (NPI) projects, collaborating with suppliers to develop and implement process control standards.
- Review and approve APQP documentation, including Process FMEA, Process Control Plans, and Gage R&R.
- Conduct on-site Quality, Cost, Logistics, Development, Management (QCLDM) audits to assess supplier capability.
- Collaborate with suppliers to implement process improvements and ensure production readiness.
- Monitor and report on supplier performance, identifying areas for improvement and developing strategies to address them.
- Support engineering changes, deviations, and supplier designs, ensuring compliance with Caterpillar's quality standards.
- Participate in Failure Modes and Effects Analysis (FMEA) with suppliers to identify and mitigate potential risks.
- Develop and implement supplier quality metrics and participate in Supplier Performance Management Reviews (SPM).
- Effective communication and problem-solving skills.
- Knowledge of quality management methods, tools, and techniques.
- Understanding of manufacturing standards, procedures, and policies.
- Experience with supplier management, including evaluations and certification.
- Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams and suppliers.
