About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Life and Health Underwriter to join our team in China. As a member of our Life and Health Team, you will be responsible for underwriting facultative cases, contributing to product developments, and providing underwriting-related services to clients.

Responsibilities:

  • Underwrite facultative cases within proper authority, communicate and negotiate with clients to promote the decisions;
  • Contribute to the development of products and propose robust underwriting rules;
  • Build up and maintain relationships with assigned clients, and provide solid and value-added underwriting services;
  • Participate in internal collaborated projects, for example data analytics, market research, tool development, etc.;
  • Work with teammates to deep dive and analyse clients' business portfolio from underwriting perspective and derive insights to add value for business growth;
  • Assist senior underwriters to accomplish audits or on-site reviews;
  • Effectively communicate and present underwriting findings or observations to internal stakeholders, then formulate follow-up actions with senior underwriters;
  • Support, coordinate, and contribute to the team's external market seminars / webinars, communication articles, etc.

About the Team

Our Swiss Re China L&H underwriting team works closely with other functions together to serve clients in underwriting-related areas for L&H businesses and clients. Besides daily facultative case risk assessment, underwriting rules review, trainings and audits, the team is also heavily involved in data analytics, new technology exploration and underwriting trend prediction for supporting future changes in L&H business.

About You

  • Minimum 8 years' meaningful Life & Health insurance or reinsurance underwriting experience;
  • Knowledge of products being offered in the market along with the ability to anticipate and/or mitigate potential risks from underwriting perspective;
  • University Degree and above, medical background is preferred;
  • Experience of underwriting or insurance operation projects is a plus;
  • Strong analytical and communication skills;
  • Strong business acumen and result orientation;
  • Good teammate and self-motivated type;
  • English capability is required.
