Job Title: Head of Medical

Job Summary:

This role will lead a team to deliver clinical and medical knowledge, experience, and expertise across the value chain with a focus on ensuring insights on trends, practices, and ethics are embedded in the relevant Idea to Market processes, as well as using insights for commercial purposes such as customer relationship building, Philips ambassadorship, and Key Opinion Leader management.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Build critical competencies for Greater China in Medical Affairs, Medical Safety, and Clinical Affairs functions.
  • Provide clinical/medical thought leadership for business strategic decisions; product roadmap; solutions innovation; and market expansions.
  • Drive the development of innovative medical and clinical strategies to support product development and commercialization.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with key opinion leaders, healthcare professionals, and academic institutions to support the company's scientific and clinical objectives.
  • Clinical risk assessment of products both pre- and post-market. Contribute to risk remediation and de-risking where appropriate.
  • Evidence generation including study design and execution to provide proof points for clinical and economical benefit claims.
  • Provide medical and clinical expertise to support regulatory submissions and compliance.
  • Represent the company at medical and scientific conferences, meetings, and other events, and maintain a high level of visibility in the medical community.
  • Internal education to various stakeholders on relevant medical knowledge; and external education to medical societies on business products and Philips' value propositions.
  • Coordinate with the central team on health economics and market access resource needs and allocation expectations.
  • Cross-functional collaboration and representation at the business MT level.

Requirements:

  • Medical Degree or equivalent (preferred), DDS, DMBD, PharmD, PhD, or equivalent graduate-level healthcare professional degree required.
  • Knowledge of medical devices and diagnostic regulations and standards, especially on obligations as an industry representative in all aspects of the function's accountability.
  • Demonstrated success in driving function's value in product registration, market development, indication expansion.
  • In-depth knowledge on pre-market and post-market safety global standards and regulations as primary organizational expert.
  • Hands-on domain expertise (clinical/medical/health economics).
  • Commercial acumen and customer-focused solutions thinking.
  • Key opinion leadership and network and relationship management.
  • Ability to effectively lead, influence, and manage in a highly-matrixed, global environment.
  • Excellent interpersonal, organizational, negotiation, and presentation skills with the ability to motivate, inspire, and evangelize.
  • Experience interfacing with healthcare professionals, and professional bodies on an international basis.
