Primary Responsibilities
- Develop and execute the local strategy for Ice Cream Communications & Corporate Affairs (C&CA) within the Asia Business Unit, with a primary focus on China, ensuring alignment with the global C&CA strategy.
- In select countries within the Asia Business Unit, you will be responsible for recruiting team members who will report directly to this position (including the Director of Communications & Corporate Affairs and the Sustainability Manager for Ice Cream Asia).
- Manage the reputation of Ice Cream both internally and externally, ensuring consistency with Unilever's corporate reputation and the Ice Cream narrative.
- Oversee external communications, including media relations and government engagement in China.
- Lead issues management for Ice Cream within the Business Unit and establish a proactive influencer strategy in collaboration with brand and marketing teams.
- Serve as a trusted advisor to the Ice Cream Business Unit leadership team on communications and engagement, while supporting brand teams on reputation-related matters.
- Direct public affairs initiatives within the Business Unit, particularly in China, and organize engagement events as necessary.
- Guide and mentor the Ice Cream BU C&CA team and collaborate with the Business Unit General Manager on sustainability and communications topics.
- Implement sustainability initiatives within the Business Unit, focusing on areas such as plastics and carbon efficiency.
- Engage in advocacy and outreach efforts related to sustainability within the Business Unit.
- Drive internal communications to foster employee engagement and commitment to the Business Unit's vision and strategy.
- Ensure cohesive communications across the organization and work collaboratively with colleagues.
Essential Qualifications:
- Over 10 years of experience in communications and corporate affairs.
- Experience in partnering with C-Suite executives and working with Leadership Teams.
- Proficient in managing extensive media platforms.
- Demonstrated success in delivering impactful external communications.
- Experience in leading advocacy initiatives and their execution.
- Strong emphasis on sustainability and issues management.
- Excellent judgment and skills in reputation management.
- Proficient in digital tools and technology.
- Strong organizational and multitasking abilities.
- Self-starter with the ability to work independently in a dynamic environment.
- Experience in line management and budget oversight.
- Preference for experience in the Food, Ice Cream, or Snacking sectors.
- Fluency in English and Chinese.
- Exceptional writing skills for speeches and strategic communications.
