Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Mechanical Engineer to join our team at Corning. As a Mechanical Engineer, you will be responsible for installing new equipment, creating maintenance processes, and monitoring process performance to ensure equipment meets expectations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Install new equipment and create maintenance processes for all equipment in the plant, collaborating with process leaders.
  • Monitor process performance using audits and data to confirm equipment meets expectations, working with operations and engineering teams to solve problems.
  • Keep detailed maintenance metrics to identify areas for improvement and ensure strict compliance to schedules.
  • Troubleshoot equipment and process issues, working with operations to address root causes using rigorous methods.
  • Support experiments where equipment modifications require maintenance teams.
  • Deliver improvement projects to achieve objectives in quality, uptime, cost, and capacity.
  • Support plant growth through equipment installation, documentation, and training, interacting with plant operations and engineering.
  • Train operators, shift leaders, managers, and other engineers on maintenance best practices.
Requirements
  • BS or higher in mechanical engineering.
  • 5+ years of experience in mechatronics device development as a mechanical engineer.
  • Project management and equipment development experience preferred.
  • Experience in troubleshooting equipment, especially related to process issues, is a strong plus.
Preferred Skills
  • Strong sense of safety, process control, and process discipline.
  • Familiarity with mechanical design and root cause analysis ability.
  • Skilled in CAD/Solid works or related design software, with a strong hands-on ability.
  • Familiarity with mechanical manufacturing process and drawing.
  • Advanced in mechanical system of mechatronic devices and valves.
  • Mastery in mechanical design of mechanical system, common parts, hydraulic elements.
  • Mastery in common standards of mechanical design and valves used in equipment.
  • Advanced in common material, mechanical processing, and assembly.
  • Advanced in applying DFMEA and other common methodologies to do technical analysis.
  • Average in Lean and TPM development.
  • Strong analytical skills, including spreadsheets, but also with statistical software. Ability to present analysis in front of groups.
  • Good problem-solving ability with DMAIC, Lean, and Six-Sigma methods, special emphasis on root cause analysis tools (fishbone, 5-why).
  • Good oral/written English communication skill.
  • Computer skills (working knowledge and use of Microsoft Office).
Desired Skills
  • Project experience of new equipment introduction, installation, and debugging.
  • Familiarity in common mechanical simulation and ability to use related software to analysis.
