About the Role

HARMAN International is seeking a highly skilled Principal Software Engineer to join our team. As a key member of our software development team, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining cutting-edge software solutions for our products.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design and develop software architecture for specific technology domains
  • Develop and maintain software requirements, ensuring alignment with product roadmaps
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to review and translate product requirements into software requirements
  • Lead the development of software architecture designs, focusing on reusability and efficiency
  • Take the lead on process innovation, IP patenting, and new standard development
  • Escalate major issues to team leaders, ensuring timely resolution and minimal impact on program schedules, costs, and quality
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in mathematics, electronics, software, communication, or automation (or equivalent)
  • Experience with sensor algorithms for environmental awareness, indoor locating, distance measurements, head tracking, body, and/or gesture detection, biological information detection, etc.
  • Domain knowledge in machine learning and edge AI for sensor applications
  • 8+ years of consumer electrical product engineering and development experience with a software engineering mindset
  • Familiarity with popular code repository management tools like git/svn/fossil
  • Hands-on experience with C++ programming language and software development in Linux environments
  • Familiarity with electronic schematic reading and ability to perform software bring-up on product PCBA according to corresponding hardware design
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including technical documentation using Microsoft Office, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook
  • Ability to work effectively in a team
  • Good knowledge of spoken and written English
  • Ability to work under pressure
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with stream media applications like VOD and/or audio streaming over wired/wireless networks
  • Familiarity with wireless communication techniques like Bluetooth, IEEE 802.11, or IEEE 802.15.4 family
  • Open-minded and willing to work outside the box
  • Strong learning capability and interest in new technologies
  • Honest and understands the value in reporting both good and bad news
  • Target and schedule-driven
  • Able to work with aggressive goals on multiple programs
  • Self-motivated to be the best they can be
