Job Title: Legal Counsel

Job Summary:

The Legal Counsel will provide legal support and advice to all divisions and functions across the company in China and APAC under the supervision of the Managing Counsel Shanghai. The position is an integral part of the Legal Department with the objective to provide timely legal advice and assistance.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Draft, negotiate, and administer a wide range of legal agreements for the company to ensure the best practicable commercial deals while ensuring the legal aspects are properly covered and legal liabilities are minimized.
  • Advise the company on a broad range of legal matters, including agreements, transactions, regulations, claims, and litigation.
  • Draft templates for use by the company and promote standardization.
  • Provide appropriate training on relevant legal matters and procedures.
  • Liaise with other functions, including Procurement, IT, Credit, Tax, EHS, and HR, to ensure alignment with all relevant stakeholders in company transactions.
  • Monitor and advise the company management on current and new legislation affecting company operations.
  • Promote, together with Huntsman management, the highest ethical standards.
  • Advise on and ensure compliance with company policies.
  • Other legal work assigned from time to time by the Managing Counsel Shanghai.

Requirements:

  • A Bachelor's law degree or a higher law degree with specialization in commercial or corporate law.
  • Qualified as a lawyer in China.
  • Post Qualification Experience (PQE) at least 5 years. Must have worked in a reputable law firm or multinational company as a legal counsel.
  • Manufacturing industry exposure, particularly chemical industry experience, is advantageous.
  • Must have solid legal experience in general corporate and commercial matters.
  • Must have strong influencing capability, high energy, be proactive, and develop strong relationships with internal clients.
  • Must be able to prioritize work, work independently with little supervision, and be well organized.
  • Effective communication and collaboration with colleagues around the world.
  • Must be fluent in English and native Mandarin.
