Job Title: Compliance Specialist

De Beers Group is seeking a highly skilled Compliance Specialist to join our team. As a key member of our Marketing organization, you will play a critical role in ensuring our compliance with internal policies and external regulations.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and implement a comprehensive compliance program for our Marketing team, including policy drafting, training, and monitoring.
  • Provide expert advice on compliance matters to our Marketing teams, including regulatory requirements, risk management, and governance.
  • Design and implement surveillance tools to detect and prevent market abuse, and ensure timely reporting of suspicious activities.
  • Stay up-to-date with external regulatory changes and update our compliance framework and materials accordingly.
  • Collaborate with Group Legal to understand the implications of new regulations and develop implementation plans for our Marketing organization.
  • Design and deliver training programs to ensure all Marketing employees are aware of their compliance responsibilities and duties.
  • Maintain a 'relevant employee' model for our Marketing team, assigning compliance profiles based on role-specific risks and developing tailored training plans.
  • Assist Group Policy Owners in tailoring training materials for our Marketing focus and provide training to Marketing employees.
  • Embed a compliance culture within our Marketing Business Unit, serving as a point of contact for training and queries in our Shanghai office.
  • Perform annual Compliance Risk Assessments to identify and manage our Marketing Business Unit's compliance risks, and assist with Group Risk Assessment processes.
  • Provide regular reporting on training completion, GEH/COI submissions, and other compliance issues or declarations.
Requirements:
  • University degree in a relevant field, such as Law, Accounting, or Economics.
  • At least 7 years of experience in compliance, with a focus on commodities.
  • Experience in a trading environment, commercial or investment banking background, or legal/general counsel experience.
  • Fluent written and spoken English and Mandarin is a pre-requisite.
  • Excellent governance skills, strong quantitative and analytical skills, and strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to prioritize and work effectively to meet deadlines, with strong project management skills.
