About the Role

Cummins Inc. is seeking a highly skilled Application Engineer to serve as the technical liaison between OEMs and our organization. As a key member of our team, you will represent our customers during new product development programs and ensure that our products meet their needs.

Key Responsibilities
  • Investigate and resolve integration and installation issues, identifying root causes and proposing effective solutions.
  • Develop and implement technical specifications, design configurations, and system solutions that meet customer requirements.
  • Collaborate with sales and marketing teams to integrate high-quality and optimized customer solutions.
  • Provide product data and installation requirements to application engineers and OEMs.
  • Make decisions on product selection, design, and integration that impact OEM machine performance, optimization, and quality.
  • Establish and maintain strong relationships with customer technical departments, serving as their primary point of contact for product technical information, product specifications, and product change notifications.
  • Utilize deep product, application, and market knowledge to support OEM product selection and device design.
  • Translate customer needs and feedback into product functional requirements.
  • Act as an internal customer/market supporter during new product development programs, design audits, and product change request processes.
  • Ensure that products are installed and used correctly to meet customer system requirements and environmental needs.
  • Verify prototype machine performance to ensure installation quality and compliance with Cummins standards.
  • Develop problem-solving solutions for moderately complex components, products, systems, subsystems, or services as experience is gained.
  • Independently execute established workflows and systems, developing technical or product knowledge, and participating in system and process improvements.
  • Participate in basic direct personnel management, but may coordinate and guide technical personnel and/or temporary student workers.
  • Promote team goals, influence work groups, and continuously improve skills necessary for success in the role.

  • Installation & Option graphics & models
  • IQA process, Calterm, INSITE, Project Management, Pro-E, VMS
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, especially with respect to non-English as primary language audience
  • International experience a plus
  • Independently exercise judgement to balance many priorities
  • VPCR/VPI process knowledge
  • Engine performance & calibration, Pro-E release knowledge
  • IQA process knowledge & AEB & ESW familiarity
  • Understanding of various truck and bus systems and powertrains
  • Diesel and Natural Gas Engine familiarity
