About the Role:

The Principal Strategic Sourcing Specialist at Boston Scientific plays a crucial role in developing and executing optimal category and sourcing strategies for finished medical devices. This involves establishing and enhancing supplier relationships to drive sourcing and supplier initiatives that meet or exceed product quality, service, and deliver sustainable cost reductions while reducing or mitigating risk in the supply chain.

Key Responsibilities:

Provide strategic influence while building value-add relationships with suppliers to increase sourcing efficiency.Promote and work towards balanced continuous value improvement for all aspects of quality, service, and cost with the assigned supply base.Negotiate value improvements and manage optimal supplier contracts.Assist in supplier stratification activities and develop capability roadmaps with Supplier Engineering and Category Management as part of the Category Strategy.Manage strategic supplier relationships in line with the Category Strategy and understand the strategic differentiators for each supplier.Responsible for arranging and executing monthly and quarterly supplier performance reviews with key suppliers.Owns the annual budget process for assigned suppliers as well as crisis or systematic issue resolution.Establish early involvement to achieve development performance goals, support project timelines, and manage product cost.Establish and support a work environment of continuous improvement that supports BSC's Quality Policy, Quality System, and the appropriate regulations for the area they support.Gathers Market Intelligence and trends for the Category and Sub-Categories.Define, build, and plan alignment on Category Strategy for assigned category.Identifies risks within the category and works closely with stakeholders to eliminate or take mitigating actions for strategic risks.Leads R&D communications related to the Category and facilitates the identification and evaluation of new materials or technologies to cover current and potential future BSC requirements.Build alignment between business needs and market dynamics.Identifies insourcing and outsourcing opportunities.Establish early involvement to achieve development performance goals, support project timelines, and manage product cost.Identifies all suitable suppliers per category and region per sample RFQ and develops comprehensive supplier knowledge & database.Works closely with and engages on proactive information sharing with other Global Sourcing Team Members to optimize supply base.Develops Should-Cost Models for major sub-categories.

Key Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree required.
  • Minimum of 10 years Strategic Procurement (Sourcing) and Supplier Relationship Management experience.
  • Leadership and influencing skills.
  • Proven quantitative abilities, e.g., cost modeling, data analysis.
  • Experience managing optimal supplier contracts and negotiating value improvements.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
  • Ability to travel up to 25% of the time.
