About the Role

The Asset Category Management division within APM Terminals' Procurement Organization oversees the Global Category Management for all CAPEX and OPEX expenditures across various sectors including Civil, Energy, Equipment, Decarbonization, Automation, and Asset Lifecycle Management, which encompasses Maintenance & Repair.

The individual in this role will collaborate closely with APMT's global functions and over 65 business units worldwide. This position is tasked with leveraging APMT's key suppliers to support the strategic goals of APM Terminals through a structured and methodical approach to category management.

Key Responsibilities

  • Formulate, drive, and implement category strategies.
  • Develop and execute strategic engagement models with key suppliers.
  • Manage relationships with both internal and external stakeholders.
  • Oversee the development and execution of the Category scope, focusing on the procurement of assets, technology, and services.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage procurement projects and processes within the Category Scope.
  • Negotiate supplier contracts and pricing.
  • Engage actively with technical functions and leaders across various Global Business Functions and Terminals.
  • Develop and maintain key supplier relationships through APM Terminals' Supplier Relationship Management framework.
  • Assist business functions and units in addressing Supplier Delivery, Quality, Commercial, or Contractual issues.
  • Drive accountability and achieve results on key financial and operational metrics, including cash discipline, cost savings, and asset utilization.
  • Serve as the center of excellence for managed categories by understanding products, applications, suppliers, industry trends, competitive landscapes, future technologies, and innovations.
  • Coordinate with regional and local procurement teams to ensure effective negotiation and contract implementation, optimizing supplier synergies and engagement with business functions.
  • Champion the implementation of internal risk management and mitigation controls to ensure compliance with corporate policies and legal regulations.

Who We Are Looking For

  • A minimum of 3-5 years of experience in procurement or sales is preferred.
  • A technical degree and/or business management degree is preferred.
  • Experience in project management.
  • Supplier/customer management and negotiation experience is advantageous.
  • Experience in strategy development and implementation is preferred.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team, successfully completing tasks with excellent results while meeting deadlines.
  • Quick comprehension of information, with the ability to contribute to problem-solving.
  • Efficient management of internal and external stakeholders.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English are mandatory.
  • Willingness to travel approximately 10-20% of work time.
