The Role


A seasoned marine surveyor is sought by Charles Taylor to oversee insurance-related inspections and loss prevention activities within the Greater China region.


Key Responsibilities



  • Conduct thorough inspections of ships and floating structures to identify potential risks and report findings as required.
  • Provide technical expertise and consult on various maritime-related projects as per business needs.
  • Audit shipboard operations and client offices to ensure compliance with industry standards.
  • Assess desktop reviews and provide recommendations on risk mitigation strategies.
  • Offer expert advice on technical matters and develop informative publications.
  • Participate in training sessions, forums, and seminars to share knowledge with colleagues and industry peers.
  • Demonstrate Charles Taylor's core values by promoting a culture of agility, integrity, care, accountability, and collaboration.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by management, within the scope of the role.

Technical Skills and Experience



  • Proven experience in H&M, P&I, MWS, shipyard inspections, and pre-purchase inspections within China and the Greater China region.
  • Strong network and relationships within the local marine industry.
  • Background as a Master Mariner or Chief Engineer with a valid COC 1, Superintendent, Class surveyor, or shipyard professional.
  • Fluency in Chinese with excellent spoken and written English proficiency.
  • Ability to travel extensively within the Greater China region and internationally, at short notice.
