Position Overview:

The Field Medical Affairs Manager (MAM) plays a crucial role as a field-based representative of the Medical Affairs team, establishing strategic connections between CN20 Alcon and Medical Experts (ME)/Key Opinion Leaders (KOLs) in the fields of Ophthalmology and Optometry. Responsibilities include:


• Cultivating interest among KOLs and healthcare professionals in Investigator Initiated Trials (IITs) aligned with CN20 Alcon's product strategies, facilitating communication between potential researchers and the company.


• Serving as a liaison between Medical Experts and CN20 Alcon, providing current medical support on device-related inquiries to educate, diagnose, and resolve issues as necessary.


• Building and nurturing scientific relationships with KOLs and decision-makers to enhance evidence generation through collaborative opportunities and to secure their advocacy.


• Gaining insights into the evolving needs of ophthalmic surgeons and supporting medical education initiatives in line with CN20 Alcon's strategic objectives.


• Identifying and engaging national, regional, and local KOLs based on their medical expertise and professional reputation.


• Providing up-to-date medical support to healthcare associations, ensuring a comprehensive understanding of CN20 Alcon products in relation to medical guidelines and evidence.


• Facilitating informed exchanges of current medical information and data regarding CN20 Alcon products and relevant therapeutic areas with KOLs.


• Acting as Project Lead for IITs upon investigator request, overseeing the process from inception to publication.


• Contributing valuable insights for healthcare coverage and access decisions through Health Economics and Outcomes Research.


• Regularly gathering, analyzing, and reporting insights from scientific exchanges with eye care professionals that may influence company development plans and strategies.


• Delivering impactful presentations to eye care professionals and documenting insights.


• Representing CN20 Alcon as a medical speaker at customer sites, congresses, symposia, and training events, sharing up-to-date, data-driven scientific and clinical information on CN20 Alcon products.


• Providing non-promotional speaker training to healthcare professionals to enhance education regarding developed and commercialized therapies.


• Supporting Medical Affairs activities and scientific sessions at regional and national congress meetings.


• Ensuring timely completion of all required training, documentation, and administrative tasks.


• Offering medical support and training to colleagues as appropriate, without substituting for functional training groups.


• Ensuring effective cross-functional collaboration with all Medical Affairs functions and other departments, including Commercial, QA, Research and Development, Regulatory Affairs, and Market Access.


• Collaborating with Medical Information and Medical Safety teams to address escalated product complaints and medical safety issues.


• Adhering to all credentialing requirements for healthcare institutions relevant to the MAM's responsibilities.


• Upholding integrity and compliance with all laws, industry standards, and company policies.

Qualifications:


• Advanced degree (OD/MD/DO/MBBS/PhD/PharmD) in Ophthalmology or Optometry.


• Fluency in English is essential; proficiency in at least one additional international language is preferred.


• Extensive knowledge of eye diseases, including surgical procedures and optometry.


• A minimum of 5 years of experience in the ophthalmology or optometry field, with at least 2 years in the ophthalmic industry or clinical practice.


• Experience in a healthcare professional-facing role.


• Familiarity with the healthcare system, research procedures, ICH guidelines, GCP, and ethical standards.


• Essential knowledge of clinical trial design, product development, regulatory requirements, payer landscape, and lifecycle management.


• Proven ability to develop and maintain credible relationships with Medical Experts and decision-makers.
