HSBC is seeking a skilled Senior Underwriter to lead our life insurance underwriting team. As a key member of our organization, you will be responsible for reviewing and approving life insurance cases, ensuring timely compliance with service standards.
About the RoleThis is an exciting opportunity for a highly experienced professional to join our dynamic team. The successful candidate will have a minimum of 5 years of experience in life and health insurance underwriting, preferably in the China market.
Key Responsibilities- Review and approve life insurance cases, including new policies, claims, and policy renewals, within designated timeframes;
- Guide junior underwriters on handling cases beyond their authority;
- Provide expert pre-approval consultations to sales teams;
- Maintain oversight of underwriting service timeliness and new business process implementation;
- Conduct regular market analyses to inform product development and regulatory compliance;
- Train and mentor junior underwriters to enhance their skills;
- Collaborate on product and system requirement discussions and user testing;
- Liaise with reinsurers on underwriting matters;
- Support project teams on departmental or company-specific projects;
- Perform other tasks assigned by senior management or department heads.
- Minimum 5 years of UW experience in life and health insurance, preferably in China;
- Excellent customer service skills, with conflict and complaint resolution capabilities;
- Strong team player with energy, proactivity, and accountability;
- Fluent communication skills in Chinese and English;
- Holdings of FLMI and ACS certifications, as well as medical background, are advantageous.
The salary for this position is estimated at $120,000 - $180,000 per annum, commensurate with qualifications and experience.
