About the School

eChinaCareers is seeking a dedicated and experienced English (ESL) Teacher to join our team at a bilingual school in Shanghai. Our school provides a unique and enriching educational experience for students from first grade to 12th grade, blending the Chinese national curriculum with elements from the British IGCSE and A levels curriculums.

Job Responsibilities
  • Develop and deliver engaging EAL curriculum to students in secondary education, fostering a love of learning and promoting academic excellence.
  • Collaborate with English staff to plan and implement curriculum, share best practices, and discuss student progress and teaching needs.
  • Participate in the school's rotation of duties, including corridor supervision, test supervision, and other responsibilities.
  • Evaluate and provide constructive feedback on students' work, maintaining accurate records of their progress and development.
  • Prepare students for EAL qualifications as required, supporting their academic growth and achievement.
  • Attend regular departmental meetings, INSET, and school training events to enhance teaching quality and stay updated on best practices.
  • Write informative and individual reports on students, providing valuable insights for parents and guardians.
  • Engage with parents through annual parents' evenings and other required meetings, fostering a positive and supportive school community.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree or higher in a relevant field.
  • Formal teaching qualification, such as PGCE or CELTA.
  • Minimum two years' teaching experience of teaching EAL to students aged 11-18.
  • Experience of teaching IELTS or IGCSE is beneficial, but not essential.
  • Eligibility for applying for the English teacher visa.
