Location: Shanghai

SUMMARY:

  • This role will be responsible for orchestrating and directing a small team of Innovation-focused engineers with the mission of developing new projects, ideas for new products and services, and engaging with customers and partners to create new value streams.
  • The Head of Innovation will drive innovation by fostering new ideas, efficient working methods, and strategic partnerships, while enabling the team to develop advanced prototypes in collaboration with customers and partners.
  • He/she must continuously develop the pipeline of new innovation opportunities in partnership with local sales. He/she will develop an understanding target markets, applications and technology.
  • He/she will continuously develop an innovation-focused team, set clear goals and expectations, and manage the daily operations and projects of the Innovation Hub. He/she is responsible for establishing external contacts with universities, institutes and key customers and building networks.
  • The Head of Innovation hub will ensure effective collaboration with Product Management and Industry Segment Management (Business Development) to create business cases for the innovation projects and accelerate the development and market introduction of new technologies.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Encourage new ideas and concepts beyond current products and business & set up and cultivate methods and tools for an efficient and effective working mode
  • Actively seek out opportunities to support the activities of your team through projects, partnerships, external funding, and other mechanisms
  • Enabling the team to successfully develop new ideas up to an advanced prototype level in collaboration with customers and partners
  • Ensuring project management within the specified project management framework.
  • Managing and continuously developing a team of innovation-focused engineers to co-create with external partners
  • Set goals and expectations for the Innovation Hub and external partners
  • Manage the daily work of the Innovation Hub and its projects
  • Performs other duties as assigned

COMPETENCIES & GENERAL SKILLS

  • Solid trackable record of managing roles & responsibilities and project development, management experience in a multinational company
  • Rich experience of working with global matrix set-up teams
  • Master's degree in a relevant field
  • 7-10 years of professional experience / industry experience and several years of management experience
  • Excellent proficiency in English, both verbal and written
  • Knowledge and experience in automation technology and industrial applications
  • Experience in managing a team in an innovation or business development environment
  • Affinity, experience and interest the markets of data center, robotics
  • Ability to forge strategic partnerships with a wide variety of technical and investor stakeholders
  • Fundraising and pitching skills in an entrepreneurial environment
  • Technical business development and acquisition skills to sell new projects, products, or services to clients
