  ­­Your Role

The Regional Marketing Director (RMD) will provide strategic input, pursuit leadership, and general business development acumen. The RMD partners with the leaders of our region, offices, and practice areas to drive the firm’s growth and recognition in the region. The RMD implements the firm’s global marketing/communications strategies on a regional level.

They are responsible for developing excellent teams of marketing professionals. An RMD’s role goes well beyond simply managing the marketing function and is focused instead on high-level strategy, integration across design/practice areas/geography, client/market intelligence and related principal-level business management responsibilities.

What You Will Do

Lead regional marketing and business development strategy

Partner with regional managing principals and office/practice leaders to plan and execute strategies for developing existing or new markets and sector Drive integration across practice areas, identify opportunities for new service offerings and thought leadership outreach Align the firm’s global strategies with local market considerations Manage lead generation and tracking as relationship development process; oversee regional CRM/opportunity tracking system Structure and lead learning programs around marketing/business development Lead client relationship initiatives: events, special programs, contact programs, audits/debriefs/focus groups Conduct research on potential new markets, geographies, or clients Develop and track success metrics against strategies for constant improvement Other responsibilities as required by specific markets in region.

Develop best-in-class teams of marketing professionals

Drive regional recruiting, hiring, and professional development for marketing staff Conduct learning programs for staff on topics such as client relationships, networking, business development, and brand standards Ensure that local marketing teams are informed of firmwide initiatives, resources, and standards Develop team structures and responsibilities for marketing staff across the region; perform regular professional development reviews and addresses any gaps in performance

Direct marketing infrastructure and operations

Provide quality oversight for collateral, proposals, presentations, events, and other marketing activities Contribute to the strategy and content of specific business development activities, often leading high-profile engagements or “must-win” pursuits Develop a framework to maximize efficiency and communication between each of the regional offices Monitor processes for quality control, filing, and adherence to the firm’s standards Develop annual marketing and photography budget Track, analyze, and report marketing expenditures

Represent the region in firmwide marketing/communications efforts

Engage with counterparts in other regions to share information and best practices Contribute local content, information, and perspective to global publications Collaborate with Regional Managing Principals to develop high-profile internal communications

Lead regional brand management

Interpret/express the brand at local/regional level: visual/verbal, behavioral expression Assure brand quality and extension in various applications Advocate for client perspective in brand efforts Connect with FW communications teams regarding ongoing brand evolution

Collaborate on the public relations and communications programs

Collaborate with the Regional PR Director, Greater China to ensure excellent delivery of media, events (social & knowledge), community relations: sponsorships, committees. Leads regional internal communications as relevant.

Relationships

Reports to regional managing principal; dotted line to FW Global Marketing Director. Active relationships with other Regional Marketing Directors and personal engagement with FW marketing initiatives outside the region.

  Your Qualifications

15+ years professional experience in marketing and communications Thorough understanding of design/architecture or similar professional services business. Excellent verbal and written communication abilities; fluency in English and Mandarin is essential BA/BS (or equivalent) in Marketing, Communications, Business, or related discipline preferred Establishes excellent peer-level relationships with office/regional principals and practice area leaders. Thought leader…trend-watcher…idea creator. Proven excellence in hiring/growing talent, strong people leadership skills. Leadership role and active participation in client or industry organizations Takes on leadership role in FW discipline/practice area/task force.
