Role Responsibilities

Job Role

Perform all Property Finance activities pertaining to China in coordination with Regional Property team and Group Finance, including but not limited to accounting operations, financial control, reporting, property recharges, planning and analytical support. Partner with various GFS workstreams to drive and implement the evolvement of Property Finance activities including process simplifications, quality improvements, data analytics and new systems (SAP, etc).

Strategy

Quick awareness and fully understanding of the Group’s strategy and model in property business. Aligned with country blueprint and aspiration on cost management, by developing feasible property solutions.

Business

Establish and manage monthly property cost. Ensure its accurate reporting, identify anomalies, and provide resolutions. Highlight risk areas and propose effective suggestions. Prepare timely, accurate and value-added information for cost analysis. Provide monthly forecast inputs for property-related costs. Provide premise recharge analysis for internal stakeholders against key movement. Ensure the adequate communications with business and support functions on their premise cost plan. Lead and coordinate country property-related cost projection during forecast and budget cycles. Build strong relationships with key delivery partners and ensure efficiencies and synergies are realised across the remit of areas impacted by the delivery. Support the standardisation and optimisation within the broader finance organisation.

Processes

Ensure a clear end to end understanding and documentation of property finance process. Provide support to design and establish the reporting and planning processes that will drive standard outcomes by integrating group, regional and country expectations. Actively contribute to support building a culture of continuous process improvement, standardisation of procedures, and implementation of a robust control framework to optimise current state. Support Property Supply Partner to ensuring accurate input into e-procurement for resulting payments to ledger, provide understanding of cost centre structure and impact for incorrect set up. Coordinate monthly accrual and pre-payment preparation, inclusive of journal preparation. Management of Property related projects and working in conjunction with project managers to ensure proper project planning, timely expense accrual and investment capitalisation. Review the monthly balance sheet substantiation process for Property accounts and provide necessary analytics to internal / external queries. Support Property Supply Partner to ensure timely update of accurate lease and rental data to facilitate correct system interface for IFRS16 accounting. Review and manage country GL to ensure accurate cost reporting, accruals and outlook and track invoice payments. Validation of WebCore recharge. Collection and analysing of data for forecasting and budgeting. Manage and deliver ad hoc requests.

People and Talent

Be self-motivated and developed through on-job training. Be equipped with suitable skills and qualified for the role. Establish a trusted advisor relationship with the Property, Functions Finance and teams getting impacted with Property Costs and Recharges.

Risk Management

Proactively flag risk / opportunities on financial performance to help business stakeholders take mitigating actions to achieve targets and provide solutions and resolution to manage the risk / opportunities. Responsible for ensuring adequate operational risk controls are in place within all relevant processes, in line with Group Finance policies and procedures.

Governance

Responsible for assessing the effectiveness of the Group’s arrangements to deliver effective governance, oversight and controls in the business and, if necessary, oversee changes in these areas; Awareness and understanding of the regulatory framework, in which the Group operates, and the regulatory requirements and expectations relevant to the role.

Regulatory and Business Conduct

Display exemplary conduct and live by the Group’s Values and Code of Conduct. Take personal responsibility for embedding the highest standards of ethics, including regulatory and business conduct, across Standard Chartered Bank. This includes understanding and ensuring compliance with, in letter and spirit, all applicable laws, regulations, guidelines and the Group Code of Conduct. Effectively and collaboratively identify, escalate, mitigate and resolve risk, conduct and compliance matters.
